When The Banks Are Closed & You Need To Change $
by ChrisRJ
If you are ever in a position where you need to change your money into Brazilian reais, but all the banks are closed, have no fear.
There are a few hotels that will change money for you even if you're not a guest of theirs, but failing that there is a bar/luncheonette in Copacabana that will change your money and will actually give you a better rate than most official change places.
The bar is called O Crack Dos Galetos and is located on one of the smaller roads running in off the Copacabana beach, near the Meridian Hotel. There's an outdoor restaurant on Avenida Atlantica near the Meridian Hotel called Mabb's. The street next to Mabb's is where you'll find O Crack Dos Galetos.
Walk into the bar and go to the cash register. The guy at the register will change all your money for you and will tell you the exchange rate first.
Thank God for the rain

Despite the bad weather, I tried my best to look at the bright side (though most of the time I had to settle for partly cloudy). Umbrella in hand, I was able to stroll down Copacabana almost completely alone. How many people can say they had one of the most popular beaches in the world all to themselves? A couple times, the rain forced me to duck into some places to gain shelter and while I was there I ended up practicing my Portuguese (which is pretty much non-existent) with locals and having some interesting conversations (using hand signals, smiles, and a phrase book). These are some of my best memories and I have the bad weather to thank.

Pedra da Gávea (Gavea Stone): Its a famous mountain in Rio where u have a great view of the city, and the best of all is that this time u wont have to pay, like in Pao de açucar( Sugar Loaf)or Corcovado. If u need some adrenaline on ur body u can jump at ASADELTA as we call it here. This u will have to pay, I think that it would be around 70 reais.
Typical Appetizer Food
by uvaspy
A lot of restaurants serve this kind of appetizer. I am not sure if all restaurants charge for this, but the ones we went to did. It is like a cover charge of $5 reals and they give you this treat before a meal.
BTW: Make sure what you think is cheese is not butter before you shove a hunk of butter into your mouth
