The cheapest hotel for budget traveller

One of the cheapest hotel in the Copacabana area. The hotel is actually far from the beach approx. 3-4 blocks away, at least 10 min. walking distance. The hotel is clean and above average for what you'd expect for the price. There is a small rooftop pool, open all night, but furniture is a bit basic.
The front desk is helpful, the breakfast is above average with wide selection.

Unique Quality: Complimentary breakfast is offered each morning, complimentary high-speed Internet, cheap local shops in the near,
Best feature is the roof-top pool with great views to both Copacabana beach and Statue of Christ. Metro station just outside the hotel.

Moderate Priced Accomodation

If staying in the Copacabana area, overall I would recommed this hotel. It is safe, they speak english, and were very helpful. Above all they yook measure to make sure one was safe. I would recommend renting the room safe as security measure, as theft of all types is a common occurence and is prevelent in Rio. Leave your passport in your hotel room safe, and take a copy with you in the event it's needed.

The hotel will also set you up with a private driver if you so desire. While we used one on a couple of days it is not cheap. $150.00/day but well worth it.

Solo traveller in Rio

by Toch

Hey,

I am gonna be in rio for one week in february. Havent decided if gonna do it independent or join a 1 week tour. Just wondering if anyone had any advice on whether there is a particularly good hostel to stay in as a lone traveller(i.e.one that runs day tours etc. and is lively socially). Alternatively does anyone know any companies that run good, reasonably priced 1 week tours in rio? All advice appreciated

Hi there ,I was in Rio in Nov `07 for 3 days and stayed in the Premier Copacabana on Rua Tonelero and the rate was $US 85 per day breakfast included. It is about 10 minutes walk from the beach. The staff spoke good English and there was a safe in the room ,so you can lok all your valuables in it and not walk around with bulging pockets.
