    The height of this hotel at 28 floors makes it the highest on Copacabana and the large swimming pool and terrace area are great to relax and enjoy the wonderful views. I only spent 2 nights here but found it a very nice place to stay. Rooms are OK, although not that large for a 5* hotel plus I didn't really like the exposed brick wall decor behind the beds.

    The other best thing apart from the high terrace is the large restaurant which served a great breakfast. The sound of the running water feature is a nice touch.

    • I stayed at the Othon Palace Hotel in Copacabana because I won a raffle back in Arizona. I grew up in Rio in the '60s and this hotel did not exist then. I found it very modern and comfortable, but nothing to really set it apart from less expensive hotels other than its physical presence at mid-beach in Copacabana. As the tallest hotel around, you have great views in either direction. I only ate breakfast at the hotel, which was nothing special.

    The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The beach directly in front of the hotel has some of the roughest surf in Rio when the tide comes in. I would recommend walking a few hundred yards to the south to avoid getting caught in the undertow and rough surf. If you get caught, swim out beyond the waves and then parallel to the beach. You'll find you can return to the shore without problems. After about five days, I switched hotels to stay at the Miramar Palace Hotel, where the U.S. Embassy housed all diplomatic visitors in the 1960's.

    The Othon Palace looks like the tallest hotel on Copacabana Beach, with the possible exception of the Meridian down the same beach in Leme. There is a swimming pool located on the roof for those too timid to cross the street to the beach. My room had a varnished red brick wall. Beds were nothing special, but the place was very modern.

  • Directions: Right in the middle of Copacabana Beach. Hard to miss, because it it the tallest building right in the middle of this world famous location.

    the hotel was first class, service was prompt and well handle even in the most demanding intimates moments; facilities are modern and efficient, in all the staff was fantastic so I can recommended it to anyone

    wooden suites,great sauna, across from the Copacabana beach, with a great view over the bay from my 21st floor suite. Cant ask for more.

    It is directly across from the beach and the immediate area around the hotel is safe. Good hotel with accommodating staff. Check out the other reviews, they are good.

    While I wasn't totally comfortable in Rio, this hotel is in a good location. It is the location and the view that really add to this hotel.

    Lobby Bar, located at ground floor, Estancia and Patio Tropical located at third floor. Every Saturday, offering delicious Feijoada, a typical Brazilian speciality. For a great night out without leaving the hotel, the rooftop Skylab Bar and Restaurant offer light meal with the best view of Copacabana Beach.
    Over all view is a great location in the heart of coco cabana beach. The down fall is that is also next to “Help” night club which is known for its prostitutes.
