If you're in Posto 2 Copacabana the route is:

Tunel Eng Coelho Cintra--> Av Lauro Sodré--> Av Venceslau Bras--> Av Pasteur-->
Telpher Station Sugar Loaf.

It's a very fast and little route. There are 2 telpher steps from ground to Sugar Loaf: 1) Ground to Morro da Urca; 2) Morro da Urca to Sugar Loaf.
Do not deal a round trip taxi. You will find many taxis near first step to serve tourists.
I believe you will pay around R$40,00 for one way taxi service. Ask taxi driver how much he may fare for this service before you go.

From the cruise pier at Maua to Sugarloaf should be around R$25-30. To Copacabana from Sugarloaf even less.

Travel Tips for Rio de Janeiro

Beautiful beaches, Food & Views

by XKuger

Most definitly the wonderful layout of the city that sometimes gives you a memory of an Italian Rivera.

Great View from Corcovado and Sugar Loaf. Lovel beaches to hang out play soccer or vollebay or just people watch sipping drinks ( Beer or Coconut water) whatever you fancy.

Don't mist this city for the world. Most definitly the some of the kiddie soccoer games on Copacabana beach. How spirited the games are contested. Soccer seems to be religion to these kids. No wonder Brazil is a Work Cup Champs.

Drive to Corcovado. The view...

by scarm

Drive to Corcovado. The view from Corcovado, the statue of Christ that overlooks Rio, is absolutely breathtaking, but don't bother going if o ceu e nublado (cloudy), as the clouds tend to sit on top, and obscure the view. Almost as enjoyable is the drive to Corcovado. I have driven there myself at least a dozen times, and I thing that every time I have gone a different way. On the way to or from Corcovado, one has the opportunity to see some of the old affluent neighborhoods of Rio. The main ones are Laranjeiras and Santa Teresa, and the views along the routes are constantly changing, with one panoramic vista giving way to another. The picture shown is one of these vistas. Note the Brazilian flag in the foreground, and the distant hills, all occupied with the small houses constructed by industrious individuals, by-hand on a limited budget.

This one is absolutely complete..it works 24 hours, it has a nice café with some delicious snakes and a little disco in the basement. the place is brand new and it is not costful at all, it is a place where all the locals go and it is easy to find

THE PLACE IS CALLED "WINNERS", it is located in the busiest avenue of Copacabana, right in the corner of NOSSA SENHORA DE COPACABANA AVENUE WITH SÁ FERREIRA. It is located in teh end of Copacabana Beach, the cyber café is next to the bank SATANDER, impossible to miss it!

The computers are really brand new and they do have lots of facilities!!! And the cyber café is close to many important hotels in the beach!

Cleaning people

by Groentje

I was surprised to see that many people in Rio had cleaning personnel. I always thought of Brasil as being quite a poor country, but apparently having a house maid is normal for many. It's actually not thát expensive, but still, it's an extra cost, no? Anyway, Junior's place had a maid the whole week, I believe, and Roberta's place had a maid for two (maybe three) days.
And as they are not rich, I think it must be right that maids and other personnel are quite cheap...

In the Canais de Marapendi you can find houses built in little islands, and it is a good way for you to know how our upper middle class live, and this is one of our gorgeous shelters!
