This is an old neoclassical, but fully renovated hotel, in the middle of Copacabana beach. Ask for a room with a view, and you will be able to wake up with the Sugar Loaf in your window. The hotel is part of the Historical and Artistical National Monuments.

If you're heading for the Iguaçu Falls then this is probably the most expensive hotel in the area, but if you can afford it, it is definitely worth the extra money. It's the only hotel in the national park and you've got a spectacular view from the hotel of one section of the falls. It has all the usual first class amenities: swimming pool, games room, shops, tennis court, excellent restaurant. There are also regular buses into town from the hotel. It is very popular to rent an apartment or a room in a family's house, if you are staying for longer piriods of time (above 4-5 days). I rented with a few others an apartment in Olinda for the Carnaval (~8 days) and another room with a family in Rio (in the Copacabana area).
