I paid R$20 / night in January 2002 for a small single room with no fan or A/C (neither were necessary), shared bath, and with a light breakfast.
For R$25 or 30 you get a room with a TV and frigobar.

Recently refurbished, clean, hot water, breakfast included, friendly, smallish rooms with shared bath. Well located. Recommendable. About the cheapest and nicest in the vicinity. How to get there: From airport - Take bus 'parque nacional' and get off at Rui barbosa St.
From bus staion - take a bus to the centre and get off at Rui Barbosa St.. Alternatively, Paudimar have a kiosk in the bus terminal. Go to them first. They will pay for half the taxi fare to the hostel. If there is more than one of you, it will be as cheap as taking a bus.

De Hotels zijn prima en netjes ingericht, naar verhouding soms best duur, maar er is voor iedereen slaapplaats naar zijn beurs. Het is soms even navragen, en men zal; u graag helpen
Over prijzen valt niet te twisten, wat voor de een te veel is is voor de ander gewoon, maar men kan goed vertoeven voor weinig geld, daar hoeft men het niet voor te laten.
