Adriana is a nice person...don't forget: you have to pay by chash, they haven't credit card.

A good place for an after-lunch nap by Quero This is one of the more comfortable pousadas on the island. There are 19 rooms in all, 13 bungalos and six rooms that share a low building. The island's village, Vila dos Remedios, where the bank, the drug store, the church, the police station and the post office are located (and that's about all), is a ten to fifteen minute walk at a leisurely pace. The owner of the pousada, Ze Maria, is an island fixture, and is always around chatting with guests and making sure that his guests are comfortable and happy.
Each of the bungalo rooms has a covered deck with a hammock, and a few even have whirlpools on their decks. The rooms are air-conditioned, the bathrooms have hot running water, and there is a good restaurant on the premises. The view from the pousada is lovely as it sits atop a hill. Looking west from the property you see the Mar de Dentro, and looking east you see the Mar de Fora. Remember that Fernando is a Marin Park in the middle of the ocean, so everything came from the continents and evrything is more expensive then in REcife, so a fridge or a Air cond have to be shipped by plane or boat, the energy is mor expensive....so the price are higer than on the coast....the Pousada I choose have a good ralation price/quality....but if you want to spend 40 reais ask to the people if there are someone that rent a room in is hose.....I remamber a name MIsses Maria Govč....in this haose lived for a week a brasilian guys for 40 reais per day with eneormouse breakfast...... Map of Fernando de Noronha by jrodpad While my wife and I had a great time at the Pousada Alquimista (see Which Pousada to choose I and II), if you are considering different pousadas on the island, my advice would be to let geography play the greatest role in your decision-making process. First, decide what is the primary activity that you want to pursue when you are at Fernando de Noronha. If you want to snorkel, I would suggest staying near Sueste beach, Leo beach or Atalia beach (my favorite for snorkeling). If you want to surf or lay out on the beach or if you're a foodie, I would suggest staying near the Vila dos Remedios (there are many good beaches within walking distance, including my favorite beach, Cachorro). If you are going for the scuba diving, I would try to stay close to the port, or close to a bus stop. I can't think of any good reason to stay in a pousada that is close to the airport (which is in the center of the island and is furthest away from all of the beaches), so perhaps, this would be something to avoid. There is a wealth of great information on-line at www.fernandonoronha.com.br where you can find information about most of the pousadas, and where they are located in relation to the beaches. If I had to choose a pousada again, I think that I would either return to the Alquimista, or stay somewhere a bit closer to the vila dos remedios. It really is the "center" of the island - because it is close to most of the restaurants and stores and because of its proximity to cachorro beach. Theme: Bed and Breakfast

by janaina There's only one hotel in the place,a building what was used during the 2nd war as an american army base, today it's the "Esmeralda Hotel". Nothing special in it,the guesthouses are much popular, and can be situated in such points that worths much more than to be in a real "hotel". We stayed in " ARRAIAL DO MARCO " guesthouse (guesthouse in portuguese is "pousada"). It had all what we needed,a nice balcony to watch the beach with the same name, very quite and clean, very nice guys, tourist information and boat trips bookings were available,we really enjoy! In the second part of the trip,we moved to "Da Helena " guesthouse and again,we were not disapointed! Theme: Pension/GuesthouseComparison: about average

Pousada Alquimista by jrodpad Because there are no hotels on the island, pousadas (bed and breakfasts) rule the day. We stayed at the Alquimista (the alchemist), which is a few blocks from the Vila dos Remedios (village of the medicines) which is the only "town-center" on the island. The four-room pousada had warm and friendly service, and while my wife speaks fluent Portuguese, I was still able to "get by" with broken Portuguese and English without her. The room had all the essentials, including: daily maid service, satellite TV, air conditioning, private bathroom with hot & cold water in the shower, stocked mini-bar. Internet access in the loby is extra (billed by the minute), but you'd have to be crazy to waste time surfing the internet when you could be exploring the island! The room was clean and the only thing that was missing was a safe; but because there is virtually NO crime problem on the island, at all, it was never an issue. Daily breakfast (included in the price of almost all pousadas) was excellent with pastries, fruit, cereal, coffee/tea and juices, from 6-10am. The pousada provided beach towels and umbrellas whenever we needed them, and the staff arraigned for us to go on a cruise around the island and a guided tour of the island by truck/foot. Despite the lavish description above, the accommodations were a bit rustic (you're probably saying, how can a room with satellite TV, mini-bar & AC be considered "rustic". . . I realize the paradoxical nature of this description, all I can say is, trust me), however, we only used the room to sleep & shower between our adventures around the island. For these purposes the Alquimista was PERFECT! The price was unbeatable. I would recommend the Alquimista to anyone.
The Alquimista has a very nice shuttle-bus that will be waiting for you at the airport when you arrive and that will take you back to the airport when you are leaving. They are walking distance (15-20 minutes) to the Vila dos Remedios, a number of great beaches (cachorro, meio, concession, etc.), a number of places to eat, and a 2 minute walk to the bus stop. The best feature about Alquimista is the service. The people who work at the pousada are amazing, and they will go out of their way to make your stay more comfortable. by Fernandocramos A very good pousada near the center. It´s very simple as all pousadas in Noronha, but the location is excellent and the staff were kindly you pay R$110 for a double room.. You can rent a case for underwater photos with the owner Nilda paying just R$75. Its very close to restaurants and very clean. The breakfast is excellent. If you prefer a loxourious pousada try Pousada do Zé Maria R$1000 for a bungalow or Pousada Maravilha around R$1800 a bungalow with jacuzzi. Casa Dora is the cheapest hostel in the island, in Vila Dos Remedios. Accommodation in Fernando de Noronha is overprized. I advise you to give the name of Casa Dora in the airport and then, once in Vila Dos Remedios, the tiny capital of the island, you can chose another hostel. There are plenty around. Casa Dora is the cheapest, about 20 US Dollars after bargaining. Fisrt she (Dora) will ask you 30 or 35, but you just say that a friend of yours recommended you Casa Dora, she will feel herself flatted and will agree to 20. Better bring with you US Dollars, because euros are changed at the same rate than dollars. Beach is near, and in front of Casa Dora there is a square where you can eat good food and pay according the weight of your plate. Hostels are overpriced in Fernando de Noronha.
The cheapest place in the island. Toilets are outside, in the corridor. Theme: HostelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveDirections: In Vila dos Remedios
