Pousadas: Family-run guesthouses

This is one of the more comfortable pousadas on the island. There are 19 rooms in all, 13 bungalos and six rooms that share a low building.

The island's village, Vila dos Remedios, where the bank, the drug store, the church, the police station and the post office are located (and that's about all), is a ten to fifteen minute walk at a leisurely pace.

The owner of the pousada, Ze Maria, is an island fixture, and is always around chatting with guests and making sure that his guests are comfortable and happy.

Unique Quality: Each of the bungalo rooms has a covered deck with a hammock, and a few even have whirlpools on their decks. The rooms are air-conditioned, the bathrooms have hot running water, and there is a good restaurant on the premises.

The view from the pousada is lovely as it sits atop a hill. Looking west from the property you see the Mar de Dentro, and looking east you see the Mar de Fora.

  • Opinion of Price: more expensive than average

How to get there

by davidxanna

What is the most affordable way to get to Ilha de Fernando de Noronha? Any ferry?

Re: How to get there

by hmoitta

There is no affordable way to get to Fernando de Noronha; the best is to buy a flight with VARIG/GOL from Recife.

Re: How to get there

by cgf

there was also a flight from Natal. No ferry or passenger ships, only cargo ships.

There are also some cruises, but they are not likely to be less than a flight and pousada, which as Heloisa mentioned, are not cheap in and of themselves.

The best from Fernando de Noronha is snorkeling. You may hire all equipment at island.

Travel Tips for Ilha de Fernando de Noronha

Lots of dolphins

by Alaoliv

One of the most definitive experiences in Noronha is meeting the dolphins. Acutally, there is a place called ´Dolphin´s Bay´, where early in the morning you can watch the arrival of around 5 hundred dolphins to rest. It´s simply amazing!

THE FIRST TIME

by janaina

Fernando De Noronha was my first diving place, and,as a first time of everything, every single fish,or reef,or whatever moved in the water, was a lifetime undescrible meeting.
But,definately, the meeting with this turtle was my my best memory!
The green turtles from the archipelago are protected by a special national program called TAMAR,the professionals who work in this project, monitorize the habitat and life cicle of the turtles, and, most important, they close the beaches during the time the females are covering the eggs in the sand, and further, when the small young turtles make their traject from the sand to the sea,in their very first swin!!! Everyone who remember his first dive, know what I'm talking about..

Baia do Sancho from the trail

by perfectly_zen

When you arrive from Baia dos Porcos to Sancho, you will be able to see the beach right from above....in two angles...that one other thing you can´miss....the vie is amazing, you will se the water going to dark blue as the depth increases...
In this pic there´s the hill between Sancho and Baia dos Porcos....the best place to dive and snorkel in this beach...

Watching dolphins from the boat

by perfectly_zen

That is something you really can´t miss!! Take the boat that goes along the whole side of Mar de Dentro, at 6:00 AM or 6 PM, and you´ll have the chance to see the golphins making their journey either to the shore (early in the morning), or to the open sea(at dawn). To communicate, the leader usually jumps off the water...that´s why they are called "rotators", the most common species in the island.
And who needs Seaworld? =P

BAIA DOS PORCOS (the pig's bay )

by janaina

Baia Dos Porcos has a unique beauty, because its geological aspects:vulcanic dark stones, forming the mountains, and a deep light green water.
The rich coral reefs around this beach is strictly protected,it's forbiden to swin or dive in this area, you can only observe the sea from the hills.
