Hotel Gallerias: Good Central Hotel

by mad4travel

The Hotel Gallerias is a good centrally located 3 star hotel in downtown Santiago.
It has an excellent restaurant, swimming pool and pool bar. There is a safe in the room and pretty good room service. There is free internet access in the basement and a small coffee shop in the lobby. There are several small supermarkets a few minutes walk away.

The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the Plaza des Armes and 10 -15 mins to the station/mercado area and bohemian bellavista area.

Ho(s)tel Coiron: Puerta Williams 5* Hotel!

by Outdoordude

We stayed in Ho(s)tel Coiron in November 2006 prior to and after our Dientes hike.
Service was 2nd to none!! They even contacted the ferries office to make sure we got on the boat, and that saved our day! because saying/promissing something doens't mean it will go ahead in this place!

The food.....delicious!! rooms, small (for us Dutchies) but good, warm water showers etc. nice log fire in the living room.

(more then) Home away from home... and a Dutch contact!

Way 2 go.

The're hospitallity sets Coiron appart. In a hard place they give the maximum!

Will come wit additional info over a week or 2.

Cottage: A night in Cameron

by kyoub

Around dusk we arrived in the small village of Cameron. We spent the night in a cottage there.
The fire was going when we arrived, we had brought our food, and we had a fresh spotted
trout to grill.
It was an old house that had been refurbished.
There are 3 bedrooms, living area/ dining area, kitchen, and large bathroom.
It was a nice quiet night.
I would recommend staying here if you want to get away from everything.
This cottage was included in our tour package of Tierre del Fuego.

The small village of Cameron took me back to memories of my childhood. I spent the first few years of my life in a small village much like this.

Aqua Terra Hotel: Down comforters

by kyoub

The last place that we stayed while in Chile turned out to be the most memorable.
The Aqua Terra Hotel in Puerto Natales was a very cozy place to stay. I just wish we could have stayed longer.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

The rooms were not huge but very clean. The beds had down comforters and the bathrooms had fluffy peach towels. The mountain views from the upstairs library were fantastic.

Los Flamencos Hosteria: Best place in Porvenir

by kyoub

The Los Flamencos Hosteria is a very friendly place to stay in Povenier. It sits upon a hill and you have a great view of the bay. It was almost deserted when we were there but it can get crowded if there is a tour group in town.
They do not speak english here so it would be good to brush up on your spanish before you arrive.

They make dreams come true. What ever you are wanting to do or see in the southern part of Chile they can arrange. I told them what we wanted to do and they delivered.

Jose' Nogueira Hotel: Fit for a Queen

by kyoub

This hotel is one of the places that royalty stay when they are in the city.
That street was under going repairs when we were there so we didn't get close.
We didn't stay there because of the noise. Yeah right!

The hotel is in the building on the left. The rest of the building is a museum.

Finis Terrae Hotel: Restaurant on the top floor

by kyoub

Located in the heart of Punta Arenas, the Finis Terrae Hotel is a perfect place for you to reside and explore the surrounding areas. Breakfast buffet included with room.

This hotel is located next to the Terre del Fuego Hotel where we stayed. We had a look around and it seemed very nice. We ate there one night.

There are good views of the city from the restaurant. It is on the top floor and there are large windows.

Tierre del Fuego: Good location

by kyoub

I chose to stay at the Tierre del Fuego Hotel because I liked the name plus the price was right. We were not disappointed. It is located right on a very busy street but I loved the bay window and watching the people and traffic.
We had a nice large room with a queen size bed. The bay window overlooking the main street. If you closed the side windows there was no street noise. The room also had a small kitchenette. Great for us who like to have our coffee early and want something besides nescafe.
The rooms with the kitchenette are the same price as the ones without, you just have to request them when booking.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of most everything in the city.
Breakfast is included in the rate.
I would stay here again and recommend it to others.c%*

The kitchenette had a gas stove, small fridge, and a sink. Nothing in the cabinets or drawers.
Lucky for us we had a corkscrew and a pocket knife. We bought some glasses, a cup, and a tea pot.

Puerto Natales - Kawashkar backpacker's hostel

by elsadran

A two storey house has been converted to a very warm and cosy guesthouse. The staff is very efficient and friendly. You feel at home from the first moment. In the back yard there are lovely rosebushes embracing the spacious camping site. They can help you with your ascend to Torres de Paine and keep your big bags while you are away. There is a well-equipped kitchen for you to use and a lot of films for the evening cocooning after the trekking. The best thing is the familiar atmosphere and the homelike decoration that inevitably make you relax. Nice music, too!!!
The 2007 prices are 3,000p(6$US) for a dorm bed and 5,000 (10$US) for a regular room with breakfast.

People respect each other being very quiet while others are sleeping.

Villarica - Torre Suiza!

by elsadran

I had seen an ad of Torre Suiza and I was determined to stay there. I was happy to find out that the hotel met all my expectations.
It is a warm and happy wooden chalet in the middle of a nice garden. It's just three blocks from the bus terminal.
The building reminds of a big family house. The colours are pleasant and optimistic. The decoration simple. The beds are of good quality and breakfast is a revelation as whole grain bread and home made jam are dancing in your mouth ! Fruit and yogurt and oat meals and syrup and muesli...everything is there ! There are also bikes for rent, book exchange, laundry service, parking space and baggage storage. You can use the kitchen .
The couple owning it have ridden their bike for thousands of kilometers all over the world. Then they decided to settle down in the peaceful and charming city of Villarica and open this guesthouse. Very good plans, my friends...I have had this same idea in my mind for years. Someday I may follow your steps....
There are very nice things to do in Villarica and they are going to arrange the best for you. Biking tours, trekking in the Parks, or climbing Volcano Villarica, horse riding or hot spring baths !!!
Prices (in 2007) 6,000 to 12,000ch pesos.(12$US--24$US)
