Snow capped Andes in February?

by Kinkacruiser

Staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Santiuago next February. Will we see any snow on the mountains from our hotel room?
Are there plenty of taxis around 1pm at the international airport and how much should we pay to get to this hotel?

February is summer and you will see very little snow on the mountains, just a very little on the top of the tallest peaks above the ski resorts.

There are taxis 24 hrs a day at the airport. Book one inside the customs area or at a desk just outside it, Taxi Oficial. Do not take a taxi from one of the men wandering around outside customs even if they have a badge (they make them themselves). The prices for the official airport taxis are fixed. It will be about 18,000 pesos (25.50 Euros or 35 dollars). You do not tip. There are also shared minivans which you can book in the same place, Transvip, Turtransfer. They take you to whatever address you want but you may have to drop off others first. If there are two or more of you it doesn't work out that much cheaper than a taxi.

Thankyou so much. I have some beautiful photos of the snow capped mountains to the east of Santiago, but I'm sure they will look as beautiful without the snow.
Our hotel is offering a taxi price of USD 9, which is incredible. I think this could be a minibus, but have written down your tips about the airport taxis.
Cheers.

A good price even if it is pp. The hotel is nice, better than an equivalent Holiday Inn in the USA. Nice staff, well located for transport and restaurants, good breakfast. Have fun!

Eterno Campeon,,,,,,,COLO-COLO!!!! CAMPEON!!!!!!
1-. Go to a Colo Colo game

by iwys

Chileans are football crazy and Colo Colo are the most popular football club in the country. They play their home games at Estadio Monumental. Built in 1989, the stadium has a capacity of 45,000. Originally, the stadium could hold up to 65,000 spectators but its capacity was reduced for security reasons. The highest ever recorded attendance was 69,305 for a 1992 match between Colo-Colo and Universidad de Chile.

Nowadays, it is very rare for games to be sold out, except for the Superclasico v Universidad de Chile. I got there more than an hour before kick-off and bought my ticket on the day of the game. I paid C$12,000 to see a Copa Libertadores match. For that, I had a good seat at the side. Colo Colo's most fanatical fans, known as the Garra Blanca, stand behind the goal, where you will see huge flags, flares and fireworks.

Club uptown

by IIGUANA about Sala Murano

OK. So it's hard to get there, but it's quite good. Good music, nice place, and beautiful people. It's worth the trouble to get there! No shorts or sandals. Everything else is OK. Girls sometimes dress up for this place.

Restaurants Area

by aero198 about Boulevard del Parque (Parque Arauco)

Boulevard del Parque is not a restaurant, it is sort of a square located outside the Parque Arauco Shopping Mall, where you can find different delicious restaurants like:
- El Otro Sitio (Peruvian Food)
- Pasta & Basta ( Italian)
- TGI Friday's (American)
- Tony Roma's
and many others Choose whatever you prefer!

Great Machas (Shellfish)

by Popstar99 about Azul Profundo

Great athmosphere, you sit amidst winebottles and figures of ships, the food is very good and the wine (typically chilean) as well Machas a la Parmesana - a typically dish in Chile very good as an appetizer. The pasta is also worth a try.
