great murals in Barrio Bellavista
by globetrott
The best murals in Santiago de Chile will be found in Barrio Bellavista, a quarter that is close to the place, where the funicular to Cerro San Cristobal starts and when you take a walk from the citycentre to the funicular you will pass by plenty of them, the best ones are shown in these photographs but there are still a lot more.
Capilla / chapel
by globetrott
This is the small chapel on top of Cerro San Cristobal, it does not look very impressive from outside but inside it has some nice details like these sculptured frescos and the giant sea-shell tohold the sacered water at the entrance of the chapel.
the chapel is open during the day, photography is no problem.
Valparaiso buses
by TheWanderingCamel
A great way to get a good look at the hills of Valaparaiso is to hop on the green "O" bus and ride it all the way to the end of the route at Vina del Mar and back into town. It costs next to nothing and takes you for miles all around the city, way away from the centre.
Suecia and General Holley
by IIGUANA
It's well known for tourists to come to this two small streets. They are packed with bars, restaurant and nightclubs. International food, clubing (not as good as some other places) and lot of tourists.
Cerro Santa Lucia
by IIGUANA
The Santa Lucia Hill in the city center is an important historic landmark. It was here, at the foot of this hill formerly known as the "Huelen", that the Spanish Conquistador Pedro de Valdivia founded the city of Santiago on February 12th, 1541. He planned the city according to the traditional Spanish checkerboard layout which is still evident in the downtown area today.
Try going in the morning, as it can get dangerous when the sun goes down.
