by StuinPenticton

Does anyone know the entry fee for Canadian citizens. We will be in Chile for less then 24 hours

If you will be in transit there is no cost, but if you have to go through customs, it will cost 55 USD.

Hope it helps!!
Sebastian.

Tax Amount per Country
• Australia US$ 61
• Canada US$ 132
• USA US$ 131
• México US$ 23

This only applies if you arriving at the international airport in Santiago. It is not charged for instance if you arrive via bus or cruise ship.

Travel Tips for Santiago

Kisses for the ladies

by mev1976

Here in Chile we ussually say hello to another person with a little kiss in the cheek. I mean guys say hello to a lady with a little kiss in the check, the same between women, but itýs not common between men, donýt try this you migth by hurt.
So guys by nice and kiss the girls but be gentle just on the cheek.

my favorite house in Villavicencio

by globetrott

"Villavicencio" is the steet that starts opposite of Iglesia de la Veracruz in the area of "Lastarria" and this building in that street was my favorite. It reminded me a bit of a castle with lovely details in the facade and a unique baywindow.
For Lastarria and Villavicencio search on your map for metrostation "Museo Precolombino" from there it is just about 100 meters !

Visiting Santiago by metro

by Jefie

The "Metro de Santiago" is the largest metro system in South America. There are 5 different lines that cover most of the metropolitan area and provide easy access to downtown Santiago. The metro is fairly new (the oldest station dates back to 1975 but many stations were added in the past 4 years) and I thought it was rather clean, and felt very safe using it. Tickets are a little less than US$1 (380 or 420 Chilean pesos depending on the time of the day - it's more expensive during peak hours), which makes it a very cheap, fast and convenient way of traveling through the city!

Seafood Galore!

by Maberk about Coco Loco

Coco Loco is a fine and traditional restaurant located in Las Condes. As ridiculous as it may sound (Coco Loco means "Crazy Coconut" in Spanish) it is a very respectable. It serves one of the best seafoods in Chile and the Lobster Thermidor is mouth Watering. The reaturant is very cozy and you can even sit in a traditional chilean boat and eat there! Lobster Tehrmidor
Locos ( its a kind of seafood)

Concha Y Toro Vineyards

by danielcv

Like wines? Santiago is the right place for wine lovers. If you go to the city dont forget to spend a couple of days touring the wineards.

The most famous of them is Concha Y Toro. There you are treated with some wine tasting as well as some spectacular views from the largest wine exporter in Chile.

Dont take the expensive tours offered at the hotel, they can charge you around $ 50 for just a short run to the wineries. If you speak some spanish, try any cab in the street and negociate a trip do Concha Y Toro.
