Chile to Argentina via the Lake Crossing

by LouzieBuuz

Hi Guys,
We will be in Chile in December and will have 5 days from flying into P. Montt to flying out of Bariloche in Argentina. We can hire a car or use public transport / tours but we would like to hear your recommendations:

(1) Should we spend more time in Chile or Argentina?

(2) Where should we definitely make sure we vist?

(3) Is there one hotel that we should definitely try to stay in?
(We tend to spend up to$100 a night but for something really speciall (unusual) we would spend more) (Llao Llao only takes 5 night bookings the time we thought about staying but seems to be the only hotel people talk about in this region)

As always thank you all for taking the time to help!

Re: Chile to Argentina via the Lake Crossing

Bariloche is quite a beautiful city, with lots of activities. If you have time, try doing the 7 lake circuit between San Martin de los Andes and Bariloche. It'll take you a whole day if you just drive through, but there are lots of small towns that are worth to visit. And, you can come back to Chile through Pucon, which is quite nice also. If you're in Puerto Montt, I'd recommend you to go to Chiloe, which is quite different from Chile. Also, maybe you can go to the Termas de Puyehue hotel, which is simply amazing and very relaxing. About the hotel in Bariloche, I'd say that Llao Llao is THE hotel you've got to go if you're looking for something special.

Travel Tips for Osorno

Rainy days

by kiwigal_1

A backpack or suitcase with wheels Make sure you bring clothing that is warm and a rain jacket that will keep you dry. The weather in Osorno can be quite wet and so you will need this. I visit dairy farms when I am in Osorno so I bought gumboots when I was there at the Cooprinsem store. I have been able to purchase everything I need in Osorno. Currently the hotels don´t supply much in the way of hotel toiletries so better to bring your shampoo etc with you.

KiwiEncuentro networking event at Club de Campo

by kiwigal_1

"The Club de Campo - Osorno"

The Club de Campo is the nicest place we have found in Osorno to hold networking functions. The Club is a horse and golf club with one of Osorno's nicer residential areas close by. It is located on the road between the airport and Osorno (close to the airport).

"Kiwi Encuentro's"

We hold functions approximately twice a year in Osorno and call them "KiwiEncuentro" as they are a chance for the New Zealand and Chilean community to get together.

"New Zealander's dairy farming in Osorno"

There are a large number of New Zealanders moving to the Osorno area dairy farming. There is also an increasing amount of agriculture based business being conducted between Chilean and New Zealand companies.
