Cerveza Kunstmann - a german beer in Chile
Cerveza Kunstmann is quite a popular beer in Chile and it is brewed according to recepees from Germany. In general "Tradicion Alemana" stands for extra quality and you will see it at many places in Puerto Montt. Take a look at my last photograph : "Optica Alemana" obviously also stands for extra quality. It does not really mean that the shop-owners or their employees will be able to speak any german. Also the webpage of the "Bierfest Kunstmann" is written in spanish only, BUT it has tiny phrases in german as well : see that balloon on the right with the inscription "Das gute Bier"
the beautiful fjords south of Puert Montt
Take a cruise and you will see the beautiful fjords south of Puert Montt, at many places they reminded me of Norway, but here in Chile there are absolutely no people living at the banks of these fjords, no houses, no roads, no electricity-wires, just the wild nature.
Great sunshine and a fine breeze when you are lucky or just haze and fog together with freezing storms when you get a bad day.
Punta Arenas was our next port of call, 2 days south of Puerto Montt and we had all sorts of great and bad weather in these 2 days.

The views and landscapes of Puerto Montt and the mountains with the Osorno , Calvuco and Corcovado volcanoes are great

Se llega a la Angostura Inglesa que es un paso muy difícil de cruzar , porque aquí se estrecha el canal y hay fuertes corrientes . Aquí hay una imagen de La Virgen Stella Maris a la que tienen mucha devoción los marinos

:: Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas ::
"wow, vulcanoes! =D"
Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas belong to a region in Chile called Lake District, or "Región de los Lagos"..... situated in the north of Patagonia.
Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas differ a lot from each other. P Montt is a big, agitated city, located on the Pacific coast, and its harbour has much economic importance, a lot more than tourism. P Varas, on the contrary, is small, "cute", and very, very touristic. Located by the wonderfull lake called Llanquihue, with a view to the volcanoes Osorno and Calbuco, the city receives many cruises, and therefore has more to offer, like cassinos, nice gardens....but it´s more expensive.
But the main reason for visiting those cities is what they have near them: the national park called Vicente Perez Rosalez. This park has very beautiful landscapes (like the first pic), and is connected to Nahuel Huapi National Park (yes, the one from Bariloche). There stand many vulcanoes, but the best of all is the perfectly shaped Osorno. And all that next to wonderfull lakes....like Llanquihue or Lagoa Todos los Santos.
