Fishing in Puerto Varas

Can anyone give some info about fly fishing in the Puerto Varas area. Is it possible to do it without a guide? Perhaps just rent a car and drive to the rivers? Or can someone recommend an inexpensive fishing guide. We really only need to be taken to the fishing location and picked up at the end of the day..

inexpensive fishing guides do not really exist in chile as far as i know. i would be happy to recommend a local driver (spanish speaking) who can take you to fishing locations. i don't know whether you need a permit but can find out.

Después de dejar la carretera principal y hacer unos 12Kms. por carretera de tierra llegamos a la entrada y empezamos a caminar por el parque . La verdad es que no vimos muchos Alerces quizá porque no llegamos al fondo del parque y la información del parque no fue buena pero caminamos por un bosque frondoso lleno de notros , helechos y flores al borde del río Ohaica Fue un gran paseo
Leaving the main road and after 12 Kms by a dirty road we reached the Park entrance and we started to walk it . The true is that we did not see many alerces , perhaps we did not reach the end of the park and the information is not good , but we walked in a closed forest full of "notros" , ferns and flowers and very near the river Ohaica
It was a great walk
