Main avenue, the busiest one: Arica's cheap range of accommodation
Walking by the busiest avenue in Arica one can find very good deals for accommodation. Go to the smallest guest houses and ask for the rates. Bargain if necessary. It~s not necessary to make a reservation to stay in Arica. I got there in the new years eve and I found a very good price for the occasion (something about 10, 15 dollars per person).
Of course the place had no additional confort there. I slept in a thin walled room and the bathroom was outside.
Yout can buy your own food and eat at the breakfast room.
There is an ugly television room.
That~s all, the place is that small. At least it was clean.

Hotel Solar de Almagro: A Good Hotel Downtown
This large hotel is located within a block or two of downtown. Some of the front rooms can be noisy at night, so be sure to check out the room. We had a back room and it was very quiet.
Our room was very large. The bathroom was all tile and the shower was huge. We had plenty of hot water. The beds were very comfortable. There was a portable fan in the room. The TV was incredibly old and did not offer cable.
In November '03, the cost was 18490P/$30US for a single and 19700P/$32US for a double. Breakfast was an additional 1240P/$2US each. The food was typical; coffee, rolls, jam and butter and juice.
The management was very helpful. The rooms were spotless. We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Almagro and would not hesitate to stay there again. There is a small 'quick stop' a few doors away where you can get bottled water and snacks.
It is friendly, clean and the value is good for what you receive. Downtown with shopping, sightseeing and excellent restaurants is just a short walk away.

Hotel Bahia Chinchorro: A truly Pacific hotel
Right by the sea. The restaurant wasn't fantastic, but we ate in town usually. The view wasvery good, and was the cheapest "coastal" hotel we could find. They also have cabanas, and a resident parrot!

Hotel Bahia Chinchorro: By the sea
It is right by the sea, in fact you may be ketp awake by the sound of the waves! The reastaurant wasn't great, but it was okay. It is also a taxi ride from the town, but ask at reception for Don Rudolpho to drive you somewhere and you will get the best cab driver in town.
