SALITRERA SANTA LAURA
by Roalera26
ganan plata a puñados.
P'al Norte me voy, me voy
p'al Norte calichero
donde seré un caballero,
de bastón y de "tongoy".
Good stop before Peru and Bolivia
by jovicunad
Is not a bad idea to make a stop before you continue your trip to Bolvia or Peru. From Iquique you can take a bus up to Tacna (Peru) that takes not more than 5 hours. And also to Bolivia, you've got to take a bus up to Arica (Chile) and then by train to Bolivia that takes not more than 8 hours.
IQUIQUE

Iquique is a fantastic city in the north of Chile, is the perfect city to spend the summer because here you will find some of the best beaches of Chile, entertainment all day and night, great discotheques and restaurants.
The city also has a beautiful square and an area in downtown with old buildings and museums, that keep all the history about the city and about the mining zone that is close to here.
"What to do in Iquique?"
The city is a nice mix of desert and sea. There is so much to do here, enjoy the beach where you can swim, to practice surf, kayac, and other aquatic sports, enjoy the shows in the beach (dance, aerobics), to visit the crocodiles zoo, enjoy other animals shows, go to the casino, visit the parks, visit the square, the cathedral, go shopping because this city is one of the cheapest of Chile, visit the closer towns of the old mining industry, to practice sandboard, to practice paragliding and so much more that i will explain in the tips.
"Enjoy the best beaches"
The city has two great beaches, one is "Brava" beach where people go to enjoy the sun , to play some sports like volleyball because this beach is not good to swim. The other beach is the most famous "cavancha" beach where you can enjoy the sea, and all kind of aquatic sports. In cavancha Beach is where everything happens, shows, dances and contest, but in my opinion is better to go in the morning because in the afternoon is totally full.
