Old houses
Old houses are a big attraction to me.....all those broken windows and dusty fronts.....makes me imagine the times when it was brand new, who was living there etc... This house is in Errazuriz Street, in the Playa Ancha Hill.

I am seeking long-term accommodation (approximately 2-3 months)in the city of Valparaiso. Most places I find on the internet are expensive for such a long stay. I see that many hostels offer fairly inexpensive pricing, but I do not feel comfortable sharing a room with other(s) that I do not know. Can anyone offer alternative recommendations as to less expensive places to stay? It does not have to be anything fancy or such, just safe and quiet with a bed and bath. Thank you so very much for any help that can be given.
I have no specific recommendations for where to stay. I would suggest you look at the El Mercurio Valparaiso real estate pages,
www.mercuriovalpo.cl/clasificados/stat/general/index.html
It is in Spanish, but you should get some idea of the alternatives and prices.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your assistance.

There is a small monument for Cristobal Colon / Christoph Columbus in the port of Valparaiso, not far from Plaza Sotomayor. Columbus is quite popular in this part of the world and everybody is aware of the fact that their own history would have been completely different without Columbus and his search for an easy way to India. There is another monument for Columbus in Av. Brasil.
Dont miss these wonderful houses in Art Nouveau-style next to the French Consulate in Av. Brasil. They are simply great and all of the fine details add to the great appearance. It really would be a pity to just take the bus or a taxi, when going to the city of Valparaiso and having no chance at all to take a closer look at these architectural beauties !
I know, the picture doesn´t look very well. Well, in fact the place is like an alley, smelly, and whatever. But is a big point of meeting at night.
After your party in Valparaiso, you can find all kind of people that go to eat this great Chorrillanas.
Try it!! You can eat the famous Chorrillanas (eggs, onion, dice of meat,) with those great chips.
A boat ride is something that adds another dimension to one's travel, so we take advantage of the opportunity whenever possible. Valparaiso was lovely seen from the water! We felt the pulse of this busy seaport as we glided past ships and cruised along the shoreline. The briny smell of the water and noise of commerce enveloped us; we became witnesses to the intense activity of the waterfront.
