Fruit Juices!
by HispanicYob
My fondest memory was walking all over this city and coming across little surprises. Naturally, you'd expect to find some sort of juice bar. We found one next to Plaza O' Higgins. It was a surprisingly hot day and we needed refreshment. As you can see from the pictures, it's all fresh. I think they may have even included a vitamin with it. It was great! South Americans always seem to have healthy ways of eating.

To go by organized transfer from Santiago de Chile to Valparaiso is quite expensive : I payed 126 euros one way for a van with a driver and a german-speaking guide. That was the only offer that was made by the tour-agency in Germany that had organized my cruise from Valparaiso and I accepted it in order to be on the safe side and spare some time to get to the cruise without a lot of hassle and stress.
Driving-time is 1,5 hours, almost all of the way you will drive on the highway and the best is that they will take you directely from your hotel to the cruise-port, make sure your luggage is taken over by the right people etc---
I asked about other possibilities of such a transfer and also at the hotel-reception of Hotel Majestic in Santiago the price of 126 euros would have been the same.
Old and new

Valparaíso has 45 hills in total. You can climb up stairs, walk up narrow streets and alleys or take one of the old ascensores. You will find a combination of old and new almost everywhere. And it can be said that, along with this mix of past and present, there does exist a certain disharmony of styles. It is not uncommon to see, situated beside a magnificent building built in the classic fashion, a modern and somewhat garish office block
