Pucon, Chile to Bariloche, AR

by ihndavid

Anyone know of ideas how to get from Pucon, Chile to Bariloche? I've heard that you can take a bus to Puerto Madryn, and then to Bariloche, but is there a direct bus that goes from Pucon to Bariloche? Any help would be great!

There probably is. You may have to change somewhere but I'm sure you will find one. Tur Bus are te biggest bus company so check out what they have got. Pullman also run a lot of routes. I recommend heading down to Puerto Montt and then travelling by bus/boat combo to Bariloche through the lakes and national park. It's more expensive but you get stunning views.

Thanks! How long does the bus take from Puerto Montt to Bariloche? I heard of this route, but people said there's not much in Puerto Montt, that's why I wanted to go straight from Pucon to Bariloche. Is the bus drive scenic? How much is that bus? I hear the ferry is very expensive.

I'll tell all I had read. Pucón is nearby Temuco and Valdivia (Take a watch on the Chilean roads I'll send to your VTmail) and at the east side of the chilean roads.
* Bariloche is connected to Chile by a good road till Osomo (Chilean city).
* There is a alternative tour (boat and bus) named as "Cruce de Lagos" that may
carry you away from Osomo to Bariloche.
* Near Bariloche there's a lake named by "Lago Nahuel Hurapi".
So, you ought to have to go to Osomo from Tucon. Then you may go by car/bus
to Bariloche, or buy the "Cruce de Lagos" package.

Puerto Madryn is on the entire other side of Argentina. that is incorrect information, there is no reason to go there.

you will probably have to change buses in Osorno, as mentioned.

You can take a JAC bus from Pucón to Puerto Varas (small and easier to manage than PM) and then get a bus from there through Osorno to Bariloche. No bus goes direct. Several lines do the route.

Lago Caburgua and Environs

It's worth spending some time at Lago Cabargua for its tranquil and pleasant setting apart from the busy times during the Chilean Summer (January & February) where many Chileans pack its beaches including Playa Blanca and Playa Negra. As well as the lake there is the Ojos de Cabargua, a waterfall and not far from the lake and various waterfalls. You can catch either a mini-bus or collectivo from Pucon.

Pucon, a very touristic city, can be relaxing or very hectic depending on your mood. There are up market hotels and restaurants and a very well-organised touristic network. But you can easily find your way with low budget, too. The sandy beach is fully packed in peak season but there are a lot of other things to do. Water skiing and snow skiing, horse riding, thermal springs and spas, trekking and mountaineering, white water rafting and kayaking, mountain biking, canopying, bird watching, golf, fishing and volcano climbing. There are big fiestas and local events as Rodeos. Pucon has been a tourist resort for 100 years, with the support of the European settlers. It's the major adventure center in Chile of southern Chile.
It is blessed having two nice beaches on Villarica lake and the continuously smoking volcano on the other side. More lakes, rivers and volcanoes are in short distances.
Finally there is Villarica very near, a very pleasant town with a lot of colour and some lovely little villages reached by short bus rides in wonderful surroundings. apuches, the largest ethnic group in Chile, you can meet with local food and handicraft in the village markets.

Volcano Villarica is the dominating view from every spot.

Park Huerquehue is near, with excellent paths and majestic views of the beautiful lakes and rivers !!!
