Hello:
Will be going to Colombia Jan 1 through Jan 10.
Should I reserve all my hotels ahead of time, or once I get there?
I have looked at some of the classic websites...like expedia for hotels....and all seem pretty expensive. I cant find a hotel for under a 100 bucks a night. Although I would like to spend from 100-150 a night for a hotel...I am not sure If I am getting the best value for my money by using these sites. Thus...I have 2 questions:
1) should I reserve all my hotels ahead of time
2) What websites, services would you reccomend I use to find, and reserve hotels for my colombia vacation.
Thanks
Where? If it's in popular tourists areas I advice to reserve in advance.
In Bogota and Medellin and Cali I know good options of USD 100 and less. In those cities not really necessary to reserve beforehand. Own experience, also 1-10 January last year.
Cartagena/Santa Marta probably a good idea to reserve beforehand.
I don't have bad experiences with Expedia-sometimes I reserve with them, e.g. Medellin (Dann Carlton) but normally I reserve direct with the hotel by calling them.

Flying to/from Cartagena: also advice to book ahead. Other destinations not really necessary.
I will be in Colombia also those days, mainly in Bogota (but not sure yet).
Thanks again. I have been trying to make reservations in cargtagena directly with the hotels....and it has been kind of hard. A lot of hotels are sold out according to expedia. Anyways i will continue to try.
I will also try ot make reservation at the hotel you reccomended on bogota. If you will be there ate the same time I would like to meet you and thank you in person for all your help.
Thanks again
I will send you an email here on VT.
