Friendly Midrange Place in the City Center
by gdilieto about Centro Hotel Cartagena
Comfortable and friendly midrange hotel in the heart of the historical city center close to all sights and nightlife spots. Rooms are basically furnished but comfortable enough and all equipped with A/C, fan and fridge with water (the basic to survive in Cartagena hot and humid climate). Bathroom very small with a decent hot shower. A decent continental breakfast is included in the rate. It is a small hotel with 16 rooms only, the staff is very hospitable and helpful but speaks little to no English thus speaking some Spanish will make your life easier. My Spanish is poor yet was enough for communicating.
All in all, a good midrange (three-star) place right in the middle of the action. If you are planning to spend most of your time visiting the Historical City Center do not underestimate the advantage of having your hotel room right in the center: Cartagena is hot and humid and you are likely going to drop by your room few times a day for resting, showering and changing-out your clothing.
Centro Hotel met my expectations of a comfortable base for exploring Cartagena and I would consider returning here if back in town.
Cartagena : Columbia

"Cartagena"
Cartagena is on the north coast of Columbia, and is classed as the Carribean. The beach was a busy place and was bustling with the usual local sales men and women -offering fruits, bracelets, t-shirts, beers etc..
The temperature was around 35 degrees celsius wich was boiling compared to the cold of Leeds! Full body massages are available for 10,000 pesos (£2.00) - too good to refuse! A bottle of beer costs about 50p. The sea was nice but i didnt venture too far out as there is a vast array of aquatic life which i didnt trust!!!!
"Accomodation"
For a cost of about 50,000 pesos a night we rented an apartment -which also came with a maid who cooked and cleaned!!!! we were right on the beach and in the middle of the shops and commercial district. The rooms were clean - except the odd cockroach!! There are plenty of other hotels along the beach, even a Hilton if you fancy it. The apartment was had air con and we were told by our Columbian friends that this was pretty much the minimum standard for all of the hotels along Cartagena strip.Unfortunately i cannot remember the name or address of the hotel!
"Cartagena Nightlife"
There are plenty of clubs in and around Cartagena, thes a mix of Spanish/Columbian music, Reggeaton and some House music. Drinks are cheap compared to home so we were drinking bucketloads. Another
