Hi I am 25 years old and traveling on my own to Colombia and Venezuela. If any of you fellow travelers plan on visiting these two gorgeous countries, let me know and we can meet up. About me: i'm a girl, half Spanish, friendly, outgoing and very adventurous!

Travel Tips for Bogotá

Money

by acemj

The official currency of Colombia is the Peso (COP) and at the time of this writing the exchange is as follows:
1 USD = 2010 COP
I Euro = 2963 COP

As I stated in the Warnings and Dangers section, be cautious with flashing money around here for safety reasons. ATMs are found around town and many are well-lighted, but be aware of your surroundings when you are near at ATM.

Picada

by Saringuis

Picada is a great food platter you should try out! The locals love it; it's delicious and easy to share with friends. You order one picada for a couple of people (more if you are very hungry) and you get a ig plate with pieces of delicious grilled meat, corn, arepas, potatoes, guacamole... ofcourse it depends on the place you order your picada, there are a lot of variations! Enjoy!

I must insist, you should see...

by ca13

I must insist, you should see a soccer game at sunday or wednesday.

Frequently, most of tourists don't know the environs of Bogotá, there you can eat meat, chicken, desserts, ..... a lot of food.
And additional to the food, is possible to know sites like Puente del Común (Historical Bridge), Catedral de Sal de Zipaquirá (Beautiful Cathedral), Nemocón (a nice little town), Parque de Neusa (National Park with a dam), Rocas de Suesca (town with a group of rocks where people practice climbing), Laguna de Guatavita (Legendary lagoon, EL DORADO).

Another good plan is visit Maloka, Maloka is an interactive center of science and technology with a cinema dome.

Airplanes Bogota El Dorado airport

by nhoolb

Bogota airport (officially named El Dorado) has 2 terminals, one called El Dorado (Int. + domestic), the other Puente Aereo. The latter is Avianca-domestic only and almost all (but not all) AV-domestic departures/arrivals are handled here. Check. See also the Avianca website. All other domestic airlines use the main terminal (El Dorado, domestic part).
Check my Colombia travel page, transportation by airplane, for latest info. Updated January 2010.

Sanalejo

by elsadran

Sanalejo is an elegant, romantic restaurant. The interior is carefully decorated and service is good . It is a little pricey but you can relax and enjoy your coffee or have a drink. It is good for dinner, too, with a variety of exquisite meat, pastas, and crepes accompanied by soft music like blues, jazz and rock of all periods. Prices range from 2.5$ for simple things to 25$ for the most expensive dish. That makes an average of 15$ for a meal per person. It is on Avenida Jimenez just across the 'Parque de los Periodistas'. Happy hour is from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
