Well preserved Colonial City......
I have visited Cargagena twice, and my favorite thing to do is wander the streets. The Old Town is a delightful rabbit warren of narrow streets with overhanging bouganvillas spilling from second story balconies. The streets are full of various vendors of coffee (exquisite tiny cups of black colombian coffee), clothes, food and everything imaginable. Shops are interesting, and the architecture is outstanding. The town abounds with jewellery shops selling emeralds, and it is hard to leave without buying something!! My favorite spot is the main square, with its fascinating buildings, and collonated street market where they sell multicoloured candies and sweets. I miss the smells and sounds of this fascinating Carribbean/creole city. I miss the boat trips to the small islands off the coast. I miss the vibrant energy.
