Isla Palma
Check out the beach. The building in the background is the Decameron Isla Palma. The island was siezed from a drug cartel and the building was a house that's now converted to a 42 room hotel, the only one on the whole island! It's an all inclusive with great food and fabulous beaches. Snorkelling, scuba, sunfish sailing are all included. Not much to do but relaxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
This is the boat that takes you from the harbour inCartagena to Isla Palma. This thing has twin 650 turbo diesel engines and cruises at 100 KMH, yes 62 MPH! It's like a cigarette boat with a cabin. The trip lasts about one and a half hours and is NOT for the squeemish, lots of vomitting going on but if you're a boat person you'll love it. On the open ocean in huge swells doing 100 KMH for 1 1/5 hours is worth the cost of the hotel stay alone and it's included in the price of the room!
These Flamingo's are right outside of our room! This is the most relaxing place I have ever been to. There is not one vendor on the island, as a matter of fact if you would like to buy anything you'll have trouble here. There's only a small shop in the hotel that sells suntan lotion and film and not much more! That's fine with me after busy Cartagena. There is an ecological tour through the Mangrove swamp daily at no charge as well as Dolphin feeding twice a day and a small zoo. NOBODY speaks English on the island. Even the other quests are from other parts of South America, I don't know what I would have done without my English/Latin America Spanish dictionary.
