Cartagena is divided into two...

Cartagena is divided into two main parts: the Ciudad Antigua (Old City) and the Ciudad Nueva (New City). Cartagnea used to be a popular place for the pirates of the Caribbean, so the Spanish have invested heavily in thick walls to protect the important harbour from attacks.
Visit Las Bovedas, which are vaults built into the city walls where, today, little tourist shops are located.
The pleasant Ciudad Antigua...
by AndreasK
The pleasant Ciudad Antigua (Old City) was built within thick walls in 1533 along a beautiful Caribbean harbor. The walls are about 10 kilomteres long. It’s very pleasant to stroll down the narrow streets and watch at the stylish Colonial architecture. And don't miss the cathedral in the old town center (see picture)!
Puerto Colombia - a small town...

Puerto Colombia - a small town just 15 km away from b/quilla. it's a really really nice place. nothing architectually beautiful (besides the berth, which was the longest in s-america at some point and is really nice and cool even now), but the atmosphere is amazing. and the sunset from the long-long berth. to get there, just take any puerto colombia bus from the 46st street, across the street from SAO and McDonalds. 1000 $ ($ is also a sign for colombian pesos... but it's like 0.5 US$) and you are there.

The Islas del Rosario are 55 km from Cartagena. The islands have a beautiful natural beach and also offer accommodation. Although many people see them on a day trip, it's worth it to spend a night or two there. The beaches are magnificent (Bocagrande is very popular), though better ones can be reached by boat. Equally magnificent are the region's snorkeling and coral-reef diving.

"Nice Place"
I liked Barranquilla, the shopping was nice at the city center. There is also a mud volcano to see towards Cartagena. The people are good people and I was treated great when I stayed there. I visited 3 times to Cartagena and Barranquilla and love every minute of it. The only draw back is the pricing of hotels which I feel is a rip off for what the cost of living is there.
