Hotel Colonial: friendly hotel in Pitalito

Very very friendly and helpful, on the main square in the centre. Not expensive, around € 10-20 a night in a double. Clean, always hot water. Complete bathroom, even with jacuzzi (although a bit dated). Due to the location it can be noisy when you have the best room (with balcony), facing the square. Bars and discotecas are around the hotel. Inside, upstairs, are the reception, the rooms and a nice patio. Rooms around the patio are more quiet. Recommended.
Be careful, the guerilla area is close by so police and military can be nervous. Take care when taking pictures of sensitive objects like goverment buildings and banks. San Agustin park close by (45 minutes by car).
To reach Pitalito it is advisable to fly to Neiva (Aires and Avianca with Dash-8 and Fokker 50 turbo-props) and then have transportation arranged by car to go to Pitalito which is a 3 hours drive. Passing along the Rio Magdalena with beautiful sights.
