Casa Redonda: Taganga´s Best place... for two till four
Spent the last nine months in Taganga, Colombia, just by Santa Marta, working for a University over there. For one months I stayed at Casa Redonda, with Sebastien and Emili from Belgium, who basically emigrated to Colombia. The house is new, modern and clean clean clean. One big bed with mosquito net and a private bathroom. Plus, in the mornings you are woken up by the sunrise from behind the mountains and at night you can see the sun go down in the ocean... Would say definiteley one of the best views in Taganga!
Also, they have built a great relationship with los Taganegeros (the locals) so if you are interested in getting in touch with Taganga life behind the tourist fassades of the garaje (the local backpackerbar) and scubadiving, this is the place to go....
Further, as graduate of Sustainable Tourism Sebastien not only knows his way around in the Tayrona National Park, but can also lead you to the hidden natural gems around Santa Marta!
Finally, Emilia makes the most delicious organic food (ask for the Argentinian empanadas... deli)
So, enjoy the place... (I hope to be back soon). The phone number is 3175903249 (Sebastien, he speaks English, French and Spanish). For some pics and contact via mail look at http://www.mundoanuncio.com/anuncio/habitacion_vista_al_mar_casa_redonda_taganga_1168089520.html
Great View, Organic Food, local knowledge, Ecotourism

1 blk to Beach! Miramar Taganga & Tsunami Bar-Cafe: Great Breakfasts, Friendly Staff, Great Views
I will remember my stay at Tsunami forever. The name is a little scarry but seriously - you GOT TO ASTAY HERE!!! Awesome Frenchtoast with fruit salad, cafe, and juice include for $10 US per night in taganga. Half the price of other hotels. Long-term and off season discounts available so ask... I paid 20,000 peso ($10 US for a room that was normally 30,000 per night and still got breakfast included. And it is really just a block to the beach. Store onm corner. Hint: Neighbor cooks fish lunches daily!
Great Staff. Very friendly. the breakfasts are the bomb!!!

Aquantis BBD: Great Hotel with REALLY friendly staff
My fiance and I absolutely loved this hotel/ bed and breakfast! We stayed for 5 nights and the place was extremely clean and comfortable!! Johan & Yolima the owners were extremely helpful with local recommendations and even booked us a trek to Ciudad Pedida which was awesome! I would recommend this place highly especially since it worked out cheaper/ equivalent to the hostels in the area and has ten times the facilities! Aircon clean private bathrooms free internet and large friendly communal area (with a communal kitchen in construction when we visited). Not much of a party location but do as the locals do and take a beer down to the beach to meet like minded travellers!
The whole hotel is brand new so everything is unbelievably clean!
Rooms were large with brand new arconditioners!
The owner is also a dive instructor and they run there own dive school on the premise!
Has a childrens room full of toys, the owners have two young children so very family friendly!

El Miramar Taganga Sea-View and Tsunami Bar Cafe: Taganga's Best New Hotel
This was my third trip to Colombia and Santa Marta. We stayed in Santa Marta at El Miramaer hotel (as always... never changes). This is where we heard about their NEW hotel in Taganga. As we were there for two weeks and were goi ng to spend a week i Tyrona Park we were thrilled (and felt very lucky) that El Miramar has a brand new Hotel or Hostel in Taganga. It is Awesome. Janet from Miramar is working there (so you know it is friendly and honest). The views are awesome from the rooms and the rooftop. Best of all, it is sooooo cool. Literally. The place stays cool all the time. Rooms are cool and breezy even in the middle of the day.
We got hooked up with awesome diving course at Miramar Taganga. I would want to check in with them first for the locval knowledge on diving schools in Taganga always because they know where the dive instructors are working, the good ones often move. Miramar has partnerships with the good diving schools and knows where you should go. The same goes for trips to the Park Tyrona and Lost City - Ciudad Perdida ... they have guides who have worked for them taking tours to the losat city going on 25 yearrrs!!!
Anyway, my review, nice rooms, super friendly, totally dependable GREAT NEW TAGANGA HOTEL
Next time, when we go back to Santa Marta we are going to do the Lost City Ciudad Perdida tour... this time we just relaxed, swam in taganga bay, dove, etc... laid on the beach, did nothing. But we HIGHLY RECOMMEND the NEW El Miramar II in Taganga... freakin' awesome
The best part about this hotel is that everything is still NEW/. New Beds, nice new bathrooms, very clean, etc etc. Very nice views from the roof of all of taganga
Also, every room has beautiful sea views. the staff is very friendly and experienced.
Tehy have a no-nonsense honesty that comes from loads of experience. You can tell these folks just tell it like it is.... giving you the honest truth not bulls__t "what you wnat to hear" stuff.
Beautiful sunset views from the rooftop bar cafe
Great job Miramar - nice new hotel!!

I didnt stay here but I visited and it seems to be a very nice place. Hostal Moramar is run by a very friendly family and it is smaller than Casa de Felipe. There are rooms and doorms. The rooms with bathroom are 15 000 pesos (July 2007) and they each have a hammock outside the room.
It is not in the guidebooks so even though I didn´t stay there myself I thought it is worth mentioning as a good option.

Casa de Felipe
Casa de Felipe is a very popular place so it is good to make a reservation. I sent them an email a few days before arriving, but then there was no available room the first night, but only a bed in a dorm. The dorm had three beds, a bathroom and a kitchen and it was 15 000 pesos a night. For the rest of the time I got a room with bathroom for 25 000 pesos (July 2007). In the room there is a towel and soap.
Many things are nice with Casa de Felipe. There is a very pleasant terrace with tables and hammocks where it is nice relaxing in the afternoon or evening, reading or talking to other people. There is a kitchen the guests can use (but not so much in the morning as they are preparing breakfast for the guests who pay for it). The breakfasts are good. For 5000 pesos you will get eggs, bread (four pieces), coffee (a whole pot) and juice. In the reception there are two computers, and fridges with drinks you can buy. You can leave your valuable things in the safe and if you are going to Ciudad Perdida or Tyrona you can leave some of your belongings in the storage room. And the staff is very kind and helpful and can give you a lot of information (but they don’t speak much English).
The disadvantage is that it is a bit unfamiliar as there are a lot of tourists staying there. I was surprised coming from Venezuela where there were few tourists at the posadas and most people greeted each other.

Ser Buzo: Free accomodation...
..... Free, but there is a catch to it. You can get free accomodation if you take the diving course with that dive shop. The deal also applies to other dive shops. There is a kitchen you can use, and showers. The accomodation is in large rooms with bunk beds. The staff is increadably nice and friendly.

Casa de Felipe: Best B&B in Colombia!
Lovely Bed and Breakfest located in the hills of Taganga in Colombia.
It's just a few mintues walk from where the vans going to Sta Marta drop you off or a few more minutes to the coast. Felipe is a French ex-pat. He and his wife are really nice and helpfull. They'll let you use their kitchen and give you advice on the area.
