"Big, clean, German establishment": Red Mangrove is not the way to go

Here I am going to break my abstinence from suggesting any hotels. There are only two hotels on the island in general and Puerto Velasco Ibarra in particular. Actually there is ONE hotel because what is being advertised as hotel by Red Mangrove is not a hotel but a row of wooden shacks without meal catering facility. Their customers are forced to go to town and eat in establishments that are far below the price range of the Red Mangrove. Mentioning money, it costs 155USD plus 25% tax for a double room (double shack) which as told by witnesses is so heated by the equatorial sun that in order to feel the air conditioning one has to be right in front of the machine! The only alternative is probably the largest building on shore with the interesting story of being “manned” by the descendants of Germans immigrating to the island in the 30s of the 20th century when they were the only humans on land. This might sound idyllically but the story goes that this saintly group included a baroness who landed with three lovers and in no time they passed away in suspicious circumstances. Moreover, the hotel owners have been in touch with Mister Heyerdahl, this prolific pseudo scientist who has tried on many occasion to prove theories that made every tribe on earth navigate the seas to their new promised land.
On more practical note, the Red Mangrove competitor, has rooms the size of two bungalows of the former with a view of the loberia and the sunset behind as well as own black sand beach and many wildlife guests especially sea lions, some of which take their siestas in the shadows of bushes in front of your very own balcony, so one can watch them never living the room! Of course, the landlady knows that you have been shipped on Red Mangrove charter and her rates are compatible but competitive – 120USD for a double, second floor room with a balcony.
