Santa Cruz, Ecuador
Santa Cruz is one of the most populated islands in the Galapagos. Home to about 15,000 of the 23,000 Galapagos residents it is the economic hub.
We landed by Zodiac, but travelled by bus. The Darwin Reseach Station was the first stop. This is where many of the almost extict species are being bred and then repatrieated to their islands.
We opted to hike the last mile of so to the restaurant. We ran into a lot of "local" wild life...cows in the mddle of the road as welll as brilliant yellow finches everywhere...
We lunched at "Altair" the home of an adopted native who provides travelers with a fantastic barbeque lunch. We opted to walk the last mile or so to get some 'exercise' (as if we were not getting enough).
