We stayed two nights before going to the Galapagos and one night after. It was part of a package deal with GAP Tours and much nicer than we expected. Free internet in the business center on 3 computers, a fabulous buffet breakfast (included), and beautiful pool which we didn't have time to use. We paid US $70 for a room with two double beds.
The breakfast is amazing, anything you could want in a very large buffet with hot and cold food, breads, the liquid yogurt I saw everywhere in Ecuador and Peru. I have not stayed there yet, but I am looking forward to be visiting the hotel in September of this year.
This type of hotel is actually an old mansion built on the colonial times and now adapted into a luxury hotel. The uniqueness about of this type of hotel is that in addition of staying in a luxury accommodation, here you can also learn about the history of Quito and the colonialism. Furthermore, you have plenty of activities to do around the hotel.
For example, you can visit churches, museums, hire a horse carriage and go around the historical center. If you have more time you can also visit the Mitad del Mundo city, and have one foot on the north hemisphre and the other n the south. There is also a museum there. This Posada is simply amazing. The art deco on the wall, the great balconies and terraces, the orange walls that make you feel like you in Mexico, the amazing food that will top it all of.
I am serious here when I tell you that this place has it all. The rooms are very comfortable, comfy beds, free shampoo too!, and the owners (Jim and Marshia) definitely are extremely helpful with any info regarding Banos and Ecuador.

The staff was very friendly and did all possible to acomodate us, we asked for larger room and bigger fridge, room with a view and extra towels. Everything was no problems even to lower the price of the room.

Very comfortable hotel with excellent service and staff. Very centrally located in the old center. Excellent Italian restaurant.

Our stay in cafe cultura was a very pleasant one. The staff is extremely helpful. The rooms are original and clean. There is also a very good restaurant in the hotel.
We also made use of their bagage storage and safes while we where at other locations in Ecuador.
If you want to they can also arrange tours, transport etc. as they did for us.
