Hotel Cielo Azul: Yellow hotel right on the beach!
This is a lovely hotel right on the beach just a few minutes walk from the main strip of Atacames so it is close to everything but far enough that it is tranquil. The hotel is right on the beach and most rooms have a view of the sea- we got a second floor apartment with a balcony, hammock etc. facing the ocean. Fantastic!
Unique Quality: This hotel has accommodations for 2-7 people. In low season, for 6 people, we paid $18 a person per night for 6 beds, private bath with hot water, fans, mosquito nets, mini-fridge, great balcony. To make reservations, you need to put a 50% deposit with the Banco Pichincha to secure it.
The hotel has night security, a pool and a lovely little restaurant where you can get breakfast in the morning for under $4.

Hotel Tiburon: One of Atacames' Many Hotels
Right on the boardwalk, across the ocean, fortunately this hotel does not have a disco or bar on the first floor or next to it, however, there are plenty of bars across from it, so it is impossible to go to sleep earlier than 4AM...
We took a family room, (only one available at the time of booking) which had a Queen size bed and two twin beds for the price of $25.00 a day.
Unique Quality: The hotel has a pool in the rooftop which offers a great view of the beach.
The room was clean however no maid service was offered.
The room had a private bathroom with no hot water.
