On the outskirts of Ibarra, a lovely town in northern Ecuador, one finds the Hosteria Chorlavi. The hosteria is resident in a renovated hacienda property that includes lovely courtyards, simple yet graceful rooms and the ambience of rural, colonial South America.

In my opinion, the two things I remember most from the Chorlavi are
(a) the beautiful hacienda grounds. I shot two rolls of film just walking through their courtyards and exterior hallways
(b) the fresh jugo pina (pineapple juice) with breakfast. It was WONDERFUL. Do yourself a favor and have a refill.
