Hosteria Manadala is a little oasis just a 5 minute walk outside of Puerto Lopez. You have the option of staying in a room or a cabin nestled in a beautiful green garden. The main building has a big veranda around it where you can eat a delicious meal, play one of their many board games, or just talk. Everyone who works at Mandala is very friendly and helpful. They will even arrange a tour of Isla de la Plata, Machalilla National Park, or a whale watching tour for you.
Mandala is very clean, well taken care of, has beautiful artistic details in every corner, a music room, a tv area, a huge collection of baord games and magazines, and it's right on the beach. We could hear the waves from our cabin! The food is expensive for most people who work in Ecuador but everything was delicious. There is always the option of walking to a restaurant in Puerto Lopez to eat which we did a few times for lunch. When we were there we met tourists from Guayaquil, the U.S., Holland, and Argentina... a nice local and international mix. I highly recommend it and hope we go again in the future! My girlfriend and I spent one week at the hostel and enjoyed the quite and peacefull place. Away from the city noice of Puerto Lopez it's a perfect place to step back and relax. Things to do there are: having a swim in the sea, observe the huge amount of different birds or during June to September watch Humback whales passing by. But there's no nightlife.
There are lovely bungalows to sleep in and if you are a group you get discount. The view is great and there are 2 lonely, pristine beaches. The accomodation is better than everything we've seen during 8 months of travel in south america. The owner is very friendly and can arrange everything. The place is perfectly safe and food is great.
