Last summer I stayed at yurapamba resort for a few days. I must say that this place is one of the better places around tena to lay back after a heavy jungle trip. The host makes you feel comfortable and a dive in the pool makes the end of the day very relaxing.
One thing that I find is always very important; the rooms are clean. There is always hot water, even during the days the rest of the Tena had no water at all. Some rooms have a special theme, like ''hawaii-style'' , which looked really good. Also, the rooms are surrounded by a good maintained garden which makes you feel like beeing in the jungle.
Before going out for sightseeing you can enjoy a good breakfast served at a roof terrace with a good view of the surroundings. During breakfast, the Dutch owner gives you good advice about the do's and dont's in an around Tena. After the sightseeing there is the opportunity to have a massage or drink a cockatil.
I would say Yurapamba is a good place for travellers who want some affordable luxury to lay back after a busy day in the surrounings!
Unlike to other Hotels here, Yurapamba offers great quality and lots to do; swimming, playing pool, enjoy the fireplace or even get a massage!
Tena is not the most beautiful place on earth - but it locates probably the best hostel in Ecuador - as it is run by a guy from Germany (sorry folks, a little patriotism here ;-)
He got married to an Ecuadoriana and lives in Ecuador for quite a while now. So he knows the place and can offer you a great stay.
If you go there, tell him, Daniel says hello!
The small hostel is located at the margins of Tena - close to the jungle on a small hillside. So if you rest on one of the hammocks at night and have a beer and a zigg, you can hear the sounds of the "selva", as they call the jungle there.
The hostel itself is not only nice decorated but probably the cleanest and nicest made up place in Ecuador - they even put a little chocolate on your pillow!
Besides cleanlyness, friendlyness and free internet they also offer tours to the jungle (go there at least two to three days!!! you will never forget this unique experience!!!), tube riding and rafting with his own boat - it's sooooooooooo much fun!!!
Hotel Limoncocha offers relaxation AND adventure - and all this in a great infrastructure and surrounding. What more you can wish for?
This is a very nice place to relax. The place is operated by Amarongachi Tours, who arranges jungle excursions. I didn't use them as guides, so I can't comment on that.
The rooms are nice and clean. In year 2000 the prices were $3 pr. person for the cheapest rooms.
