Los Amigos de la Naturaleza, the local organization that protects the forest, have this lodge, located 45 min - 1 hours walk from Mindo.
CEA offers lodging and dining facilities for up to 30 people. There are different kinds of lodging. They have a dormitory, where guests sleep on mattresses on the floor, and they have double rooms with nice beds. The bathrooms have hot water. The lodge is located just next to the river, so one can listen to the relaxing sound of running water all night. The Lodge has a nice restaurant, which is more like a terrace, than a room, because there are no doors or windows. This way you are very close to the forest all the time. They don?t have a huge menu cart, but the foods they serve are ok.
From the lodge it is possible to walk on marked trails. Some are short and easy, and some are long and if you hire a guide you can trek the forest for days.
If you decide to go here, it is best to go to the organizations office in the town of Mindo. Here they can organize transport if you don?t want to walk, and they will give you directions and let the staff know that you are coming. Ask in the town for directions to the office, it is just 1 minutes walk from the park (as everything else is).

Just follow the road, and when you cross the river, just after Hotel Mindo Garden (after 45 minutes), turn right and walk 10 min. on the trail, and then you are at the lodge.

When I was a volunteer in the rainforrest near Mindo, my parents stayed in this guesthouse, when they came to visit me.
They liked the accomodation very much and enjoyed the breakfast on the terasse.

Good breakfast. You have to bring your house shoes. They arrange bird whatching tours.

We opted for the treehouse - and it was worth SO it! We enjoyed a great view of the river and valley, and some of the hottest running water of our whole trip!
The resort has a restaurant with daily specials, a night club, several pools (including a hot tub), a butterfly farm and lots of exotic flowers and birds you'll stumble upon on-site. They also offer daily trips - river tubing, hiking and more.
We were there during the week and were some of the only people there. If you are looking for an out-of-the way place to relax, this is it!
