Amenities...
The Hilton Colon is a great hotel to use if you need more than the most basic amenities. It is obviously more expensive than the numerous hostels in the same area, but get several restaurants, a gym, shops, travel agent, and much more. The location, across from the El Ejido park, and right in Mariscal Sucre, makes it a great place to use as your tourism or business headquarters. The rooms are large, clean, and most have a good view. All around good place to stay
Unique Quality: Great location
Good tourism agency
Good buffet
Friendly, English speaking staff
Nice, large, clean rooms
Great gym

The Kindest People in One Hotel
It was great!!... Service was so good, everybody was smiling and greeting me while i was walking around the halls. The room service is a bit slow, but its worth it. Food is great. Receptionists were really helpfull and caring. I'd recommend this hotel to everyone who's vissiting Quito.
Unique Quality: The Views!!! i remember each morning i used to stand on my window and admire the city.

Probably the best in town.
We were put up here for one night after the flight we were booked on to was cancelled. It was the best place that we stayed in whilst in Quito, without a shadow of a doubt, but I have to say that there was absolutely no way we could've afforded it ourselves. The room was huge as was the very comfortable bed. The bathroom was well kitted out and it even had potable water! Usual extras included TV with sattelite channels. The service was excellent and we were made to feel incredibly comfortable in the short time that we spent there.
It's location isn't too bad idea, being on the edge of the new town, near the museum of the national bank and South American Explorers club house. It's also only a short walk from Gringolandia, with it's internet cafes, travel agents and restaurants. Having said that, if you can afford to stay here, you may not really be looking to check out the local backpacker trail! :)
Unique Quality: It has a fantastic view of the park and has the usual impeccible service that you would expect from the Hilton brand. It has a pool, casino and fitness room, if that floats your boat.

On Amazonas avenue.
I stayed at the Hilton hotel, i got a very good price maybe because it was New Year Eve...A nice room for only $60.00. I really enjoyed the stay.
Or you can try this Ecua-hotel i saw in old Quito...

Good Service
Good service and very friendly. They have loads of local Ecuadorian roses lining the lobby. Located across from a huge park with lots of local shopping markets.
Unique Quality: The picture is a view from the hotel room.

Average Spot to Sleep
Exterior:
The Colon (I'm not making the name up...)is a towering structure sitting on a main street in Quito with many banks and businesses nearby.
Lobby and Check-in:
Check-in was quite slow at this hotel and the staff in general seemed to be in no hurry to complete things for us.
Rooms:
The rooms at the hotel were typical for an average 3 star hotel, fairly clean, with TV, bed, dresser, and small bathroom. I have to say I wasn’t overly impressed, the bed was firm, and pillows seemed cheap, and there was a fair bit of street noise (including intermittent gun-fire from the street below a couple times).
Amenities & Restaurants:
The hotel restaurant served tasty and relatively inexpensive meals, and I ate most of my meals here. Unfortunately about 2 days after returning I came down with some sever bug and I tend to attribute it to my meals at the hotel.
The hotel also has a large casino in the basement and drinks tend to flow free while you gamble. I didn’t partake but some friends did and the odds seem fairly standard.
There is also a rooftop pool, which is excellent for working on a burn, which happens quickly close to the equator (experience talking). The pool area is nothing spectacular and in fact I felt somewhat bare and deserted in the sea of concrete.
Check-out:
Check-out was a painfully slow, perhaps the slowest I have ever experienced. Granted we were a group of 12, but it was akin to pounding out the bill on stone tablets, time-wise.
Location:
The area is primarily a business area and restaurants/bars are a 5 minute walk. Crime is a problem in Quito so be careful of straying off the main roads. There are also tons of street vendors throughout the day and you can get great deals on wool sweaters and such.
Service:
Service was fairly poor/indifferent overall.
Unique Quality: The hotel is near some smaller market type areas, but nothing of great import stands out in my memory. Like I say...pretty average.
