Hotel Rio Amazonas and Hotel Quito
Hotel Rio-we paid $40 a night. Hotel Quito we paid $45 a night that included a welcome drink (rum & coke only) and breakfast buffet. Buffet was good, do not recommend it for lunch or dinner. Hotel Rio is right amongst the bars and discos. Hotel Quito has spectacular views from the rooms. The garden and pool area are very nice also.

Santo Domingo-Hotel Zaracay(the nicest),
Otavalo-Ali Shungu
I will add more when I return in June.
These are a little high but worth it.
Treat Yourself at Hotel Quito
by ddbleu about Hotel Quito
We stayed two nights before going to the Galapagos and one night after. It was part of a package deal with GAP Tours and much nicer than we expected. Free internet in the business center on 3 computers, a fabulous buffet breakfast (included), and beautiful pool which we didn't have time to use. We paid US $70 for a room with two double beds. The breakfast is amazing, anything you could want in a very large buffet with hot and cold food, breads, the liquid yogurt I saw everywhere in Ecuador and Peru.

My favorite was Hosteria La Cienega (courtyard pictured here), which is a 17th century hacienda located off the Pan-american highway near Lasso that has a great view of the Cotopaxi volcano. The room rates here are around $50 per night. We stayed Hacienda Guachala in Cayambe as well, a less expensive but very quaint place. These are places to go to get off the beaten path -- televisions and telephones are hard to find but there are plenty of fireplaces. In Quito, we stayed at the Hotel Quito on the hill. They had good service (hot breakfast buffet included), and I believe this hotel was around $55 per night. In Banos, we stayed at Monte Selva, a secluded spot at the base of a mountain -- a relaxing way to end the trip.

Excellent hotel in Quito
by BE001903 about Hotel Cafe Cultura
Our stay in cafe cultura was a very pleasant one. The staff is extremely helpful. The rooms are original and clean. There is also a very good restaurant in the hotel.
We also made use of their bagage storage and safes while we where at other locations in Ecuador.
If you want to they can also arrange tours, transport etc. as they did for us.
Excellent service

Where is this hotel located? Are there shops nearby and restaurants? Do they have rooms with queen beds?

Check out www.tripadvisor.com. I think that this is the place I stayed in some years ago, in which case it's in a quiet area of town. (Not that anywhere in Quito is exactly noisy!)

Hotel Quito is located at Av. Gonzalez Suarez. It´s a very nice hotel and they do have queen beds. There are a bunch of restaurants near by and some shops. But it is close to everything.
