There were all types of good restaurants to try and we got to as many as we could, but we really enjoyed this one for supper. Three out of five nights to be exact. The food was really good but the folks working there made it a treat. They always took time to make sure we didn't need a wine, or to learn a word, or to teach a word. Fun people

OAT trip to Amazon and Galapagos-leaving Jan.1,2008

by elainegary

Wondering if anyone has done this particular trip with OAT. It's 11 days; starting out in Quito, flying to Coca and spending 3 nights in the Amazon rain forest, then Hotel Reina Isabel in Quito, and 3 nights in the Galapagos on a small ship (85-95 feet) and small motor dinghies for wet landings during the day...or if you have any recommendations....

Haven't done this particular trip, but I did a similar with National Geographic and my daughter did on with a dive boat. In Quito, I highly recommend the Theater restaurant just at the entrance to the historic district. My daughter's dive crew tried it and it was the hit of the trip.

Zodiac's are the normal mode to land on the islands. Wet landings are what is allowed on the islands you can walk on. If you can, do a dive off of Wolf or Darwin...lots of Hammerheads and Whale Sharks to photograph.

I'd prefer to spend all 11 days in the islands.
