Cheap and Great Location

For the third night in Quito, and one night after the Galapagos, we stayed at the Hotel Sierra Madre (included as part of our tour). The Sierre Madre is centrally located, within walking distance to El Ejido park (which had an outdoor market on Sunday) and an Indian Market (in case you need Ecuadorian souvenirs).

Before the trip we had room #9 which is on the 2nd floor (which is the 3rd floor for us Americans). A bit of noise from the adjacent neighborhood (barking dogs and active roosters).

After the trip we had room #12, which was on the 3rd floor (which is 4 flights of stairs - remember - you're at altitude in Quito so unless you're from Denver, slow down). It was about twice the size and had a nice terrace. Definitely worth the stair climb.

This was arranged through our tour operator and included in our package price. The rates we saw listed were $45/person (which makes it the same as the Marriott!)
