Excellent downtown hotel
We stayed at the Hotel Palace in January 2007. The room was large, the bed was excellent, and the AC worked fine. The staff was friendly and efficient. We paid $60 per night for two people. Pick up from the airport was $9 - we used the hotel rather than a taxi because our flight was scheduled to land at 00:20 hours.
The hotel restaurant was good. The included breakfast was excellent, and the service was attentive.
The Palace is downtown, two short blocks from the Park of the Iguanas. We felt safe in the neighborhood, but, then, we did not go out after 8 PM.
We would return to the Palace another time.

Friendly place
At $61 US a night this was a good deal. That's half the price of the big chain hotels in the same area. If it wasn't as nice it was close enough.

A really good hotel!
This hotel is in a perfect location! . Three blocks east of the Malecon 2000 and two blocks south of the street Nueve de Octubre.
