Gîtes Angoulème: Lodges in Mana Reserve

We found the lodges clean and the inventory very complete. The gîtes are well-managed by the owner, mrs Buira, who has developed the resort for 30 years together with her late husband.
Price is EUR 20 per person per night. If you do not want to cook yourself then breakfast is EUR 6 and dinner EUR 10.
Special rates for groups and for longer stay.

Situated in Mana Natural Park on the bank of Mana river. Ideal if you want to discover the park by yourself. From here you can hike through the forest or canoe on the Mana river. The lodges stand in a large garden with fruit trees, free for you to pick.

Cayanne- La Bodega 220 frf per double room with air cond.
Isles de Salut - stay in the prison cell with a hammock for 60 frf
Kourou - the centre d´accueil, although officially closed let us have a double room for 100 frf.

This is the Hotel Mercure, one of two who seem to have a lock on this small area. All of the rates seem to be the same. No doubt a conspiracy of rate fixing.

Rack rate for a standard room is around $60.00 USD but this can be negotiated, you have a competitive edge, never be reluctant to use it. Any hotel that insists on rack rate gets one chance only to amend their policy.
