Le Meridien/Pegasus

A corporate rate should be about $100 US. A fair amount for what you get considering the cost of living is fairly low in Georgetown. The Cara group of hotels are competitive in price and amenities. Likely the best hotel for location and overall amenities, the Pegasus is the hotel of choice for visiting diplomats and business executives. It is within walking distance of the Canadian High Commission and the US Embassy.
Great Hotel In Georgetown
by jamesdalphonse about Le Meridien Pegasus Hotel
During December of 2007, we stayed for over one week at the Le Meridien Pegasus hotel in Georgetown, Guyana. The hotel is a beautiful place tucked away on the edge of Georgetown. It is located right on the seawall of Guyana. The beach is not able to be used, due to Guyana being below sea level. The sea is all murky and muddy in this area.
The rooms are very clean, never did we have any problems with running water. The housekeeping staff was very good in keeping overstocked with bottled water. Although, I did consumer tap water in Georgetown, I did not have any problems with it.
There is a huge swimming pool at this hotel, which makes it very relaxing laying out during the afternoon under the hot South American sun. At the far end of the pool is the main hotel bar. The bar is kept open until at least midnight, usually later.
Food service at this hotel is great, but a little on the pricey side. There is a restaurant that has a breakfast buffet near the front desk, very good. Across from the front desk is another very high-priced restaurant. The main and best restaurant is the outdoor one, located all around the pool area. Here the food is very good, and you are served by very friendly waiters. Le Meridien Pegasus is right in the city of Georgetown. About five blocks up the street is the Palm Court Restaurant. The Palm Court stays open until 3:00 am every night, and opens at 11:00 am every day, except Sunday, when they open up at 4:00 pm. The food at this restaurant is very reasonably priced and outstanding. There is a full-service bar at this location that also serves until 3:00 am. I highly recommend this place.
All around Georgetown there are numerous places to eat at. From very fine pastry shops to Chinese restaurants all over. Dinner at these Chinese restaurants is very feasible for about $US10 for two people, including beverage.

A happening place.
by Aafia about Le Meridien Guyana Pegasus, Georgetown
After 10 days in the remote Pakaraimas hiking and camping, this hotel was like an oasis for us. We arrived dirty and dusty from the interior, yet we were welcomed like royalty with cold punch and smiles. The hotel is located far enough away from the chaos of downtown Georgetown and on the ocean so we could enjoy the pleasant breeze in the lobby and in our ocean-view room.
Our room was quite satisfactory for us, but in the context of a 5 star hotel the rooms are ready for an overhaul.
The atmosphere at the hotel is very comfortable. The restaurants serve excellent food. The pool and bar area is a great place for socializing and some evenings there's a band and dancing. We were there on Valentine's Day and we ate and danced to the rhythm of a steel drum band.
There is a gift shop, business center, hair dresser, small gym and tennis courts.
The hotel also hosts several local Rotary Clubs for those who like to make up their meetings while they're away. Staff was always pleasant and helpful.
Excellent restaurants and breakfast buffet.
Fun pool and bar.
Open breezy lobby leading to lounging areas and pool.
Felt very secure.
It just seemed to be a happening place.
