After 10 days in the remote Pakaraimas hiking and camping, this hotel was like an oasis for us. We arrived dirty and dusty from the interior, yet we were welcomed like royalty with cold punch and smiles. The hotel is located far enough away from the chaos of downtown Georgetown and on the ocean so we could enjoy the pleasant breeze in the lobby and in our ocean-view room. Our room was quite satisfactory for us, but in the context of a 5 star hotel the rooms are ready for an overhaul. The atmosphere at the hotel is very comfortable. The restaurants serve excellent food. The pool and bar area is a great place for socializing and some evenings there's a band and dancing. We were there on Valentine's Day and we ate and danced to the rhythm of a steel drum band. There is a gift shop, business center, hair dresser, small gym and tennis courts. The hotel also hosts several local Rotary Clubs for those who like to make up their meetings while they're away.
Staff was always pleasant and helpful. Excellent restaurants and breakfast buffet. Fun pool and bar. Open breezy lobby leading to lounging areas and pool. Felt very secure. It just seemed to be a happening place. While the Pegasus is a good place to eat, The Tower Hotel rates 10 for accomodation, not only because it is ideally located in the heart of the city and walking distance from many places of interest in Georgetown. But also because it has the best all around rates in the town. Honoured by a commemorative postage stamp on her 50th Anniversary, the Hotel Tower is proud to wear the title of 'Leading Businessman's Hotel in Georgetown.' Unique for Georgetown, but traditional at Hotel Tower, is 24 hour service -room service, restaurant and bar service, front desk service, internal and external security service. A corporate rate should be about $100 US. A fair amount for what you get considering the cost of living is fairly low in Georgetown. The Cara group of hotels are competitive in price and amenities.
Likely the best hotel for location and overall amenities, the Pegasus is the hotel of choice for visiting diplomats and business executives. It is within walking distance of the Canadian High Commission and the US Embassy. Accom in Georgetown is basic at the cheap end but here are some of the options we looked at: Charlotte Lacys - G$1,600 for a basic single - ask for Godfrey. Germans - G$1,500 single - hard to get a room here. Tropicana - G$1,000 but has poor security Friends - $$ but nice central and across the road from Germans. These are all central as G'town is not very big. Security is supposed to be a problem here but we spent almost a month and apart from a break in at Tropicana, we had no problems. For cheap - you can't go past Hotel Tropicana on Waterloo Street. It's basic but costs just G$1,000 without bath or G$1,500 with. Security is a problem though - see below. Theme: HotelComparison: least expensiveAddress: Waterloo Street

Bartica - Modern Hotel We paid GYD$1600 / night for a room with a double bed, fan, shared bath, mozzie net and sink. We hung a hammock for the second person so the price was only GYD$800 / person
Very conveniently located. Nice rooms, has a good verandah to relax on. Theme: HotelComparison: least expensiveDirections: Just ask. The centre of Bartica is very small and anyone can tell you where it is. It is right next to the ferry terminal.

Corriverton - Mahogony Hotel We paid GYD$3000 / night in December 2001 for a medium sized room with a double bedwith mozzie net, fan, bath, and breakfast. We were able to sling a hammock thereby cutting the per person cost down to GYD$1500
Clean, friendly, restaurant, verandah with plenty of tables and chairs. well located. Theme: HotelComparison: least expensiveDirections: Somewhere in the centre of town. Just ask the bus driver to let you off there.

Georgetown - Charlotte Lacy I paid GYD$1600 / night in December 2001 for a huge room with double bed, fan, bath.
Safe(ish), located in the centre. Godfrey the owner is very friendly and helpful. For a budget hotel it is recommendable. Theme: HotelComparison: least expensiveDirections: 155 Charlotte St. at the corner of King St, Lacytown.Other Contact: Telephone/Fax: 66441

Georgetown - Germanīs Hotel GYD$1500 / night for a room with a double bed, fan & bath
The most conveniently located. Safe. Many brazilians stay there. Large rooms with bath with double bed fan and bath. Basic but cheap and probably one of if not the best of the budget hootel choices. Iīd recommend to stay either here or at Charlotte Lacy, although Eenaīs might give you a little better security. Rima Guest House at 92 middle St. is probably the best and safest option but is slightly more expensive and a little further out (5 - 10 min walking from the main shopping streets - near the Tropicana Hotel) Theme: HotelComparison: least expensiveAddress: 81 Robb St.Other Contact: Telephone: 53972
