Asuncion Palace

We found it difficult to find budget or cheap accommodation in Asuncion. There didn't seem to be any hostels, and there were no tourist information places to help either. Most entries in our out-of-date Lonely Planet had closed down or were too far from centre, so we decided to use hostelbookers.com, where the best sounding place was the Asuncion Palace Hotel.

This was a great place and we enjoyed our stay immensely though it was breaking our budget a little. It cost 36 dollars a night for a double and we had a huge room with cable TV, a balcony, fridge, shower and bathroom. A fantastic breakfast was also included, and the people running the place were very friendly. There is Internet access too though you have to pay extra.
