Hotel Westfalenhaus.
Hotel Westfalenhaus is a very good place to stay.
My last stay there was for 90 days.
No matter what your agenda may be, it offers one a quiet, clean, and very well run place to spend your time while in Asuncion.
When you go downtown via Taxi it costs about $ 7.00 and takes about 20 minutes, which is nothing by US standards. Plus, it can will be an exciting ride.
The hotel service is excellent, and the ambiance, unless you think that Holiday Inn cookie cutter style rooms are more to your taste, is damned good.
If you want to stay at The Dorchester go to London.
Westfalenhaus is small, but then again who cares?
If you want to stay at a big hotel go to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
If you want to live in a Sheraton or a Holiday Inn ( which I would pay not to do ) and eat at Mc Donalds stay in the USA.
If you are going to need a place to live while in Asuncion, stay at Hotel Westfalenhaus!
I have noticed that the most criticism of hotels comes from ego inflated lower level executives, who when they spend their own dime stay at a Super Six Motel, 3 to a bed, bring along their own Velveeta cheese sandwiches in a paper bag, and then when they check out take the toilette paper with them.

Good hotel - strange owner
One of the best deals in Asuncion - but far away from the city center (you always need a cab).
Sometimes the owner is insulting his staff in front of other guests.
