Hotel Santo Domingo: Good hotel near Asunción bus terminal

When I arrived at Asunción bus terminal from Argentina, I asked a couple of people working there if they knew of a decent hotel nearby. They both recommended the Hotel Santo Domingo and I am glad they did because it is a little gem. It is an attractive three-star hotel, which opened in 1988. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are nice. There is a swimming pool and free internet. If you are travelling in and out of Asunción by bus, then I'd highly recommend this hotel.

I paid 228,000 guarani ($57) per night for a double room including breakfast, but I think you can negotiate it down to around $35 if you book ahead.

Ist ein gutes Hotel um die Wasserfälle von Iguazu zu besuchen

The owners are Renate and Geraldo a German Paraguay couple. The kitchen includes some german food.

Das Hotel wird von Renate und Geraldo betrieben. Die Küche bietet heimische und deutsche Gerichte. Renate untersützt Euch gerne bei Ausflügen zu den Wasserfällen.

Als absoult ehrlichen Taxifahrer kann ich Juan Irala empfeheln. Ich habe mit ihm an einem Tag sowohl die argentinische wie auch die braslilianische Seite der Wasserfälle besucht.

For visiting the Iguazu waterfalls I can highly recommend Juan Irala as your taxi driver.

He is an absolute honest guy and you can trust him. I have done the Argentinean and Brazilian side of the waterfalls in one day with him.

It's near a shopping centre and in walking distance to the microcenter of Asuncion.

Hotel Chaco: Hotel Chaco

Asuncion is not known for its fabulous five-star hotels. Therefore, tourists should not arrive there expecting anything overly fancy. The Hotel Chaco is located in the downtown core and is reasonably priced (about US$15/night), has a rooftop pool, a nice restaurant, safety deposit boxes, etc. There are staff members who speak English.

For those travellers who are suffering from a bit of homesickness or culture shock, the Hotel Chaco has tv's in every room and there is an english movie channel, as well as CNN in english.

Apart Hotel Mandu'ara: An interesting option Downtown

I only stayed one day, trying to find some peace and quiet. The Mandu'ara just fullfilled the task. Due to its location, this hotel is very popular among business travelers, specially those staying several days. Each suite includes a sitting room, a dining area, and a kitchenette. Accomodations are very nice although it suffers from that common disease "trying too hard". I mean things like the rooftop pool and fitness center needed care and modernization and the computers at the bussiness center were significantly outdated. Service was correct and staff was very helpful

Villa Morra Suites: Not in travel Guides

Hotels in Asuncion are generally not expensive. Some of them by american o european standards are very cheap even. However, these hotels are not for those used to luxury and comfort. They are basic accomodations. On the other side the most expensive properties have areas which show their wear-and-tear. This hotel dates from just a couple of years back and combines the intimacy of a boutique hotel with the luxury of an all suites property. It's located at the Villa Morra neigborhood, a posh residential area of Asuncion about 5-10 min from the crowded center and very close to several of the best shopping malls.

Mennonitenheim: "Bed and Breakfast"

The mennonitenheim is located across the street from Menno Travel in Asuncion...if you can look that up in the phone book...taxi's will know it as well. It is a wonderful place to stay with friendly faces and lots of history. It is historical to my family, and you will always be well fed. Everything is clean, and there are wonderful hand-built 4-6 person rocking swings under the trees.

A great sleep with a wonderful garden area for relaxing naps and finding peace of mind.
