Arequipa's best hostel for reasonable price
Friendly hostel in the Southern side of Arequipa City center. The owner is a Dutch woman who is very helpful & will not hesistate to answer any questions from travelers. Owner speaks perfect english .
The hostel is 10 mins walking distance from the plaza de armas. Very clean and with European style breakfast.
I had stayed in many hostels in Peru, usually the breakfast were only bread, butter, jam & tea or coffee. This hostel gives cheese & meat with bread.
It does feel like home to stay in La Casa de Los Pinguinos.
cost under $20 per person a night.
Unique Quality: Have laundry service & the hostel can help you to order delivery if you are too tired to get out at night for dinner, mail drop off
The owner helped us joined a wonderful 2 day 1 night colca canyon tour & it was the best tour I had in my Peru trip

The House of Penguins
Definitely the cleanest hostel I stayed during my South America (it's even cleaner than some 2-star hotels back in the US). The hostel is located in a quiet area somewhere between the bus terminal and City Centrum, a 10-15 minutes walking distance to Plaza de Armas. The owner, Alex (Peruvian-Dutch lady), and all her staffs are really kind and helpful. The rooms are spacious, with 24-hr hot water and cable TV. Complimentary breakfast is also available.
