Trekking along the canyon
by Amareyui
The tour I joined included two 30 minutes walk along the canyon. That's not good enough, but it's always like that when joining tours.
I read from my guidebook that there are some 7-days hike available, which seems quite interesting. If someone has done that before, please message me to let me know how it is.
Plaza de Armas
by Amareyui
This plaza is where Arequipa gets the name, the "White City", from. The plain white building in the plaza has a tone quite similar to the ones from Spanish cities like Madrid. Better still, the buildings mesh well with the volcanoes in the back of the city's sightline. Adds to the mix some palm trees and birds, Arequipa's Plaza de Armas is quite surely the most beautiful among its numerous peers in other Peruvian towns.
Yanahuara Belvedere
by besbel
Yanahuara Belvedere consists on arches made of the lavastone known as ashlar ("sillar", in Spanish). This rock had been carved and decorated with Spanish poetic excerpts.
From this belvedere from where you can have the best view of Arequipa, the outside field and the Misti volcano.
Arequipa

Arequipa made a great first stop on our tour of Peru and we wished we'd stayed longer than the one day we'd built into our schedule. We stayed in a very good hotel, the Pousada del Ponte and spent our day exploring the city, especially the beautiful Santa Catalina Convent. We also enjoyed La Compañía Church and the museum where the Ice Mummy Juanita is displayed.
Arequipa is also a good place to adjust to high altitude as it's about 1,000 metres lower than many of the other tourist destinations in Peru such as Lake Titicaca and Cusco. And the setting, surrounded by volcanoes, is beautiful.
