Hostal Sucre: a cheap backpackers place

a really cheap place, especially for Agua Caliente, where hostels are more expensive than in Cusco. Just what we needed, a bad to sleep, and a more or less clean place to take a shower ;-)

for 8 soles in a 2bed room you cant expect too much ;-)

Gringo Bill's: Gringo Bill's

For me Gringo Bill's was bad. Almost never hot water in the shower (Very ironic when you think that Aguas Calientes means hot water in spanish) :)
Also I was expecting an english speaking reception, but the receptionist didnt speak a single word english.
All the day and until far in the evening they were building on the hotel, so we had people standing just outside our room hammering and preparing a new room.
Always we had to request new sheets and toilet paper, because it seemed it wasnt automatically put in the room when cleaning. Really, the only thing we liked about this hotel was the little balcony where we could rest in the afternoon, looking at the mountains, listening to the river, drinking cervezas and talking quietly with eachother. That is after they stopped working at around 20:00 in the evening. I suggest you find another place, there are lots of hotels in Aguas Calientes.

El Tumi: Nice and cheap - Pas mal et peu cher

A short stay (some hours before waking up and going to the Machu Picchu) but a nice stay... We were even allowed to come back and enjoy the showers in the middle of the next afternoon !!

Un court sejour (quelques heures avant de se reveiller et de partir pour le Machu Picchu), mais un sejour sympa. On a meme pu revenir et se servir des douches en plein milieu de l'apres-midi suivant !

Cheap (between 10 and 15 soles - 3 to 4 USD) and very clean.

Pas cher (entre 10 et 15 soles - de 3 a 4 USD) et tres propre.
